Volunteers to provide hands-on animal care such as grooming, exercising, and socializing the animals while they wait for their new homes, in addition volunteers assist with kennel cleaning, general housekeeping, and customer service. Other volunteer opportunities include off-site adoption events, photography and data entry for the organization's website, yard work, building maintenance, fundraising events, grooming, humane education and pet visits at schools and daycares, senior care pet therapy visits, veterinary medicine, and dog walking. For Pets' Sake Thrift volunteers help run the gently used pet supply store that is open three days a week. Animal Transporters must be 16 years of age or older. Volunteers are generally put on a call list and are contacted when transportation needs arise. Common transport needs include bringing shelter pets to and from local veterinary clinics. Foster care homes ?- Volunteer homes are needed to foster dogs and cats. Most situations involve pregnant and nursing animals, but sometimes it is for an animal recovering from an upper respiratory infection (similar to a cold) or an injury. - If you are interested call the shelter and ask for the foster care coordinator or applications are on the website. - Looking for people to be put on a list for situations where someone is being called to active military duty and can't find anyone to take care of their pet while they are gone. - Looking for homes to foster animals in disaster situations when people are without a place to stay such as if their house burns or they are evacuated for other reasons.

Assistance with: - Information and advice concerning found wild animals - Rehabilitation for injured or sick wild animals - Sometimes able to provide live traps for wild animals - Will facilitate referrals to larger wildlife rehabilitators Accepts monetary donations, some items used in rehabilitation, and would take volunteers to help with transporting animals to and from their facility. Calling in advance is highly recommended, as some animals can be helped best by keeping them where they are found and providing minimal assistance (sometimes taking an animal from its habitat and providing uninformed care can actually make things worse or cause irreparable harm) To determine whether the animal needs to be helped: https://wildwoodsrehab.org/does-this-animal-need-help/
