A nine-bed adult residential crisis stabilization unit that provides a short-term safe place for individuals to stay while working through a mental health crisis. The unit is staffed 24 hours/7 days a week and offers counseling and education to clients in managing their mental health symptoms. All admissions are voluntary and based on bed availability.

A 12-bed Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) program to provide support for individuals experiencing significant mental health challenges. Services are provided in a residential, community-based setting, and aim to stabilize symptoms, develop skills, and transition individuals to a less restrictive environment or independent living. Typical length of stay is approximately 45 days in IRTS beds, while crisis beds are 10 days. Services provided:

• 24 hours/7 days a week support

• Assessment to develop intervention plans or a crisis relapse plan

• Crisis stabilization and residential treatment

• Dual disorder programming to address mental health and co-occurring substance issues, with both group and individual therapy tailored to specific needs

• Family education

• Medication monitoring, management, and education

• Personalized care plans with a focus on holistic recovery

The Itaskin Center & Cottage Shelter/Stabilization program provides a safe and structured short-term placement setting for youth 10-17 years of age. Typically, stays are for thirty days or less and placements are accepted for the following reasons: Neglect/abuse, status offense, minor delinquency offenses, diagnostic assessment, respite/time out, and youth awaiting long-term placement. Health screenings occur within 24 hours of admission by a registered nurse, and planning for stabilization begins with admission to address immediate concerns and to identify a plan for the youth at discharge. Program staff work with youth and families to develop support systems, build skills, and prepare for a successful transition back to the community/home setting. The program also provides after care support upon discharge. The residential mental health treatment programs are rooted in trauma-informed practices, acknowledging families and youth are doing the best they can with their current skill sets. Appreciating and acknowledging how traumatic stress and experiences have shaped the lives of youth and families enables the programs to provide a person-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed approach.

Provides behavioral health services to individuals in a residential setting. Services include: Crisis Stabilization: For individuals who need short-term mental health care, it offers tailored treatment for up to ten days. Goal is to help patients return to their prior level of functioning. Services include:

• Collaboration and coordination with agencies, providers, family and community

• Crisis relapse recovery and prevention planning services

• Illness management and recovery services

• Individualized crisis stabilization assessment, treatment and discharge planning

• Medication monitoring

• Skills training

• Supportive and short-term problem-solving counseling

Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS): Tailored to adult clients. Care plans are personalized to help clients meet their recovery goals. Services also include:

• Coordination with medical, outpatient mental health, chemical dependency, and aftercare services

• Enhanced Illness Management and Recovery (E-IMR) education

• Family education

• Integrated dual diagnosis treatment

• Crisis intervention

• 24 hour/7 days a week support and crisis helpline to screen for safety, stabilize a crisis, support and provide appropriate referrals. All calls are free, confidential, and anonymous.

• Mobile crisis response team to provide face-to-face crisis services, including assessment, intervention, and stabilization. The mobile crisis response team works in conjunction with local law enforcement agencies and hospital emergency departments. Alluma partners with local law enforcement agencies to respond to 911 calls involving individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.

• Supervision and observation through the Crisis Stabilization Unit, a two-bed unit available for adults who need a safe place to recover during a mental health crisis. Provides access to services such as case management, counseling, skills building, and coordination of services to local community resources. Only serves adults ages 18 years and older who volunteer to be admitted to the Crisis Stabilization Unit, are medically stable, and non-aggressive. Does not treat acute medical conditions.

• Child and Adolescent Therapy Programs: Programming is offered in partial hospitalization, day treatment, and inpatient formats. Includes a comprehensive assessment, safety training, coping skills development, and transferring back into the community through program referrals where appropriate

• Crisis Lodging Assessment and Stabilization: a safe, supportive place for adolescents to identify and meet goals for dealing with a mental health crisis. A customized recovery management plan and program will be developed to reinforce new behaviors.

• Dual Diagnosis: offered as an inpatient or day program for adolescents. Addresses issues related to mental health conditions and chemical dependency

Offers short-term residential beds available in Carlton and Pine Counties for temporary crisis purposes.

Residential Crisis Stabilization hybrid services integrate mental health, medical, and substance use care in a 24-hour, supervised setting. Provides short-term crisis stabilization services in the same setting. Diane Ahrens provides a home-like environmental in keeping up with a recovery orientation. Short-term counseling is also provided related to the immediate crisis, psychiatric evaluation, medication evaluation and rehabilitation services (i.e. skill building to restore a person to a pre-crisis level of functioning). Services are provided one-to-one as well as in groups scheduled throughout the day. Staff also assist individuals with connecting to other community services to build the individual's support network. NOTE: Beds are updated daily via the website.
