Provides vital funding, including low- or no-interest loans, grants, and loan guarantees for businesses relocating or expanding in the region. Outreach to help under-resourced and in-transition (homeless) students: - Partner with the Family and Community Engagement Program of the Rochester Public Schools to raise, receive, and redistribute funds to provide for the needs of under-resourced children in the school district. - Partner with the Transitions and Fostering Connections Program of the Rochester Public Schools to raise, receive, and redistribute funds to provide for the needs of students and their families who are in transition (homeless). - Partner with the Olmsted County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (OCHRA) through the Stay At Home Program, helping raise, receive, and redistribute funds to help under-resourced families and students remain in stable housing, so children can remain in their schools and have a better chance at completing and excelling in their education.
To fulfill the mission across the region, United Way of Southeast Minnesota funds programs that positively impact Southeast Minnesotan's health, financial security, opportunities for young people, and resiliency in the face of crisis. Prioritized programs that serve populations disproportionately impacted by long-standing structural barriers, with the goal of ensuring all people have what they need to thrive. Annual grant process to support agencies and organizations serving individuals in UWNEMN's service area. - Amount of support varies for each agency and organization. - Applications are reviewed by UWNEMN's Board of Director, and qualifying agencies are interviewed by panels of board members and community members - Must be able to show how an agency or program addresses an issue within UWNEMN's investment plan.
????For Organizations: Art Project Grants: Provides area organizations in the SMAC region with up to $7,000 to stimulate and encourage the creation, performance, and appreciation of the arts. Equipment/Facilities Improvement Grants: Provides up to $10,000 in matching funds to arts organizations for the purchase of equipment items and facilities improvements that will strengthen their capacity to serve the arts needs of the region. Public Arts Grants: Provides organizations and city, county, or tribal governments with up to $20,000 for large-scale physical public art projects that will leave an arts legacy in southwest MN. The project should result in sustainable arts access in the community, with a continuing impact over several years. 20% cash match required. Quick Support for Organizations Grants: Provides organizations with up to $2,500 for activities such as planning for a Public Art project, strategic planning or board training, costs to apply for 501(c)(3) status, small equipment purchases, or small arts projects. For Individuals: Art Study Opportunity for Youth Grants: Up to $500 to aid in the development of young artists in grades 5 - 12 through an enrichment camp or specialty study. Students eligible for free/reduced lunch may apply for funding for regular lessons. Individual Artist - Artist Equity Grants: Provides up to $4,000 to aid Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and other artists of color with projects that will advance their skills and artistic careers. Individual Artist - Artist Growth Grants: Provides up to $4,000 to artists at any career stage for projects that will advance their skills and artistic career. Individual Artist - Established Career Artist Grants: Provides up to $7,000 to aid established career artists in the advanced stage of their career development with projects that will advance their career. Individual Artist - Quick Support for Artists: Provides artists with up to $1,000 for activities such as purchasing supplies, attending classes, and small artist-led community projects. For Schools: Arts in the Schools Grants: Provides public schools with up to $4,000 for projects such as artist residencies, arts field trips, juried student art exhibits, etc.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the 7 Rivers Region offers fundraising activities such as Bowl For Kids' Sake, Catered for Kids' Sake, Golf for Kids Sake, Taste of Winona, and other special events.

Educates and help assist businesses within the Taconite Assistance Area with energy-efficient decisions and aid in financing the energy retrofit project. The Business Energy Retrofit Program (BER) will support and provide the business up to $20,000 in eligible retrofit expenses or one-third of the total project up to $60,000. Appliccants are required to obtain prevailing wage complaint bids from local contractors and submit with AEOA's application.
Conducts one annual community fund raising campaign and disburses monies to member human service agencies

Help aid in financing code complaint construction and remodeling projects on main streets downtown. The Downtown Building Rehab Program (DBR) will support and provide 1/3 project cost up to $50,000 in eligible expenses. Up to 10% of awarded grant funding may be utilized for professional services such as an architect or engineer.
