- Assistance to Minnesota businesses and local governments to maintain compliance with new and existing environmental requirements, to reduce or eliminate the amounts of emissions and waste generated, and to reduce regulatory burdens - Educational opportunities such as workshops, trainings, events, printed materials, and informational mailings - Small Business Environmental Ombudsman: Reviews environmental regulatory activities to ensure that they are fair, reasonable, and appropriate for small businesses, investigates and assists in the resolution of complaints and disputes, and acts as a contact for small businesses looking for financial resources.
Provides information and resources to individuals who are interested in starting a business. Services include: - Consultations with the Small Business Assistance Office to help individuals understand or have questions about starting a business. Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month for small business owners. - Information about considerations when starting a business, organizing the business, structure, forming partnerships, differences of business entities, business licenses, permits, business tax liabilities, and filing documents with the Secretary of State - MN Reservist and Veteran Business Loan Program: Provides business loans to companies that are affected when certain employees are called to active duty and individual veterans who have returned from active duty and want to start their own business. Types of loans include business loans and startup business loans. Terms include one-time, interest-free loans of $ 5,000 to $20,000, with 54 months of no repayment for the first 18 months and equal monthly payments over the remaining 36 months. Fiber internet access, drinks and snacks provided. - Ecosystem Navigator Program: Lowers barriers to entrepreneurship in Rochester. Provides entrepreneurs and prospective business owners with networks and frameworks to improve their chances of business success. Initial focus is the Latino, Black and female entrepreneurial communities in Rochester. 3 navigators meet 1:1 with entrepreneurs and people interested in learning more about starting a business in Rochester. Navigators work to understand the needs of these individuals and connect them to business resources. - Education: Provides an 8-week Basics of Entrepreneurship course which helps an entrepreneur start with an idea, validate it and find their first customers. Works regionally with universities and colleges as well as other entrepreneurial support organizations to connect individuals to educational opportunities.
