A community center offering a fitness center, aquatics area, ice arena, multi-purpose arena, walking track, and meeting rooms.

• Keewatin has a city park located on third avenue across from the city hall. It has a pavilion with electricity and is used mostly for celebrations.

• There are two playgrounds owned by the city; as well as the school playground. One of these is at Peter Filippi Field; located at the eastern end of Third Avenue. Baraga Park and Playground is located at the corner of Fifth Street and West Howard Avenue.

• In the summer, Peter Filippi Field is where you will find the local youngsters. There are baseball, skateboard park and softball fields which host a summer ball program for boys and girls of all ages.

• In the winter, Peter Filippi Field is alive with skaters. There is an area for free style skating and a hockey rink. A warming house is open from 3:00 P.M. on weekdays and from noon until 9:00 P.M. on weekends with an attendant on duty. -

Residents can compost leaves, grass clippings and brush (up to three inches in diameter). Individuals wishing to drop off raw compost will be asked for identification (driver's license, sewer and water bill and/or tax statement) showing their address.

Community Resource Connections staff provide information, referral, advocacy, MNSure enrollment assistance and paperwork assistance.

• Case management services for families who request budget management, personal counseling and other long-term professional services.

• Community Center: 651-776-8169. Provides a variety of programs for all ages designed to meet physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs including group club activities, summer day camping, senior citizen programs, athletics, arts and crafts, music and drama, preschool program, teen counseling, gymnasium, after school programs, etc.

• Fresh food distribution of bread, produce, baked goods, and more is available to anyone. Distribution takes place using a lottery system.

• Financial assistance, when funds are available, for rent, deposit, mortgage, utility bill assistance (excluding water bills), some transportation, emergency and supplemental food, and other special needs on a case by case basis. Applications are taken starting on the 1st of each month (or the next business day). Only a limited number of applications are taken, so applications may only be available on or for a few days after the 1st. Call for rent availability; application availability may vary.
