The United Way of 1000 lakes is a non-profit corporation which assists area, state and national Human Service agencies to solicit funds necessary to provide for the human service needs of Itasca County. It is an organization of volunteers from the community whose primary function is to determine the human service needs of the community and to provide the organization financial support for its services.
Achieves community impact by targeting resources to meet priority needs of the community and by bringing the community together to build a strategy for collective action. Partner organizations include local health and human service organizations. Accepts gifts of annual donations, planned gifts, volunteer resources, special event donation opportunities, and grants to address community priorities.
Funding local non-profits' initiatives for providing basic needs for families, such as emergency services of the Red Cross and Salvation Army; early education programs like Early Childhood Family Education; and health services for uninsured individuals and families, such as Open Door Health Center.
Membership in the Society is granted to individuals who contribute at least $10,000 annually to the United Way which includes most major United Ways. Please contact your local United Way for local Tocqueville Society details.
