The foundation was established in 1982 to financially assist the Samaritan Bethany Corporation in providing ministry to the elderly. A Special Gift fund helps with education and research, recreational activities, transportation needs, special adaptive equipment, building needs and chaplaincy program A Sponsorship fund offers financial assistance to residents and staff with limited financial resources The foundation is governed by a board of directors whose members are appointed Meetings are held quarterly and fund requests are reviewed at that time

The Itasca Community College Foundation does fund raising for ICC students. Funds go toward scholarships and to college programs

Distributes funds to tax-exempt institutions or organizations which provide services to youth, people who have a disability, or low-income and/or elderly residents. Provides scholarships to low-income Duluthians enrolled in health care, and direct service programs and women in the building trades studying at Lake Superior College. Also provides scholarships to low-income Duluthians enrolled in education, nursing, social work, and management at the College of St Scholastica including the ADEP program. Those interested in scholarships should call Lake Superior College or College of Saint Scholastica.
