The American Legion Temporary Financial Assistance program awards cash grants to minor children of veterans who are eligible for American Legion membership. These grants help families in need meet the cost of shelter, food, utilities and help expenses, thereby keeping the child or children in a more stable environment.

Current Projects include: - Between the Lines: Promotes literacy and strengthens family bonds between incarcerated parents and their children - Helping Hands: Provides done-in-a-day volunteer services throughout the community - H.O.M.E.S.: Hands-on Math, Engineering and Science is committed to engage and equip parents with ways to continue math, engineering and science activities through hands-on projects in their homes - 30 Million Words: Provides fun, celebratory events that provide one-on-one mentoring, literacy engagement, and increased access to culturally relevant books - LeagueAires: Brings the joy and healing power of music to older adults and those with special needs
The Family Support Network connects families of service members who are activated, deployed or away from home on extended orders, with posts in their local communities where they can get assistance with everything from lawn mowing and home repairs to child care or financial help.

- Offers opportunities for involvement in direct service initiatives that promote equity in the community. - Trains volunteer advocates to speak out about social justice issues that impact women, children and families. - Provides opportunities for leadership development in service, advocacy and nonprofit governance.
