Provides coaching and support to Child Care Providers in Dakota, Carver, and Scott counties to help them prepare children for school. Services include:

The Minneapolis Foundation is a community foundation serving the metro area and the state of Minnesota. In addition to grant making to nonprofit organizations, the Foundation provides leadership in the areas of convening and collaboration, advocacy and public policy initiatives. Serves as an advocacy and advisory body to the governor, legislature, and state agencies, acting as a bridge between API communities and government. The Council engages in policy work, research, community engagement, and capacity building, rather than providing direct social services. Key focus areas include legislation on education, mental health, healthcare equity, data disaggregation, cultural inclusion, and leveraging community resources.

The Commission addresses barriers to communication access through public policy and legislation. Advises the governor, the legislature, the judicial branch, and the commissioners of all state agencies to ensure their policies and practices are equitable to Minnesotans who are deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing. The council strives to improve the understanding of philanthropy by the general public, elected and appointed public officials, community leaders, nonprofit organizations, academicians, the media, and other special interest groups. These services include:

• Opportunities for education and information on private philanthropy and the grant making process through periodic public meetings and seminars

• Periodic research on the extent and nature of private philanthropy, including analysis of giving trends in Minnesota

• Quarterly newspaper, Giving Forum, covering activities and trends of interest to nonprofit organizations and the general public

Affinity groups within United Way are collaborations of donors with shared interests who are committed to significantly improving the quality of life in their communities through focused philanthropic giving, advocacy, and volunteering. Affinity groups give members the opportunity to help create long-lasting change and enhances their development as individuals and as community leaders. Women United provides women the opportunity to direct their time, talent, and financial resources toward improving the quality of life in Olmsted County. Minimum annual donation of $650.

A group of community members and professionals who meet quarterly to discuss issues facing older adults and offer information about resources for older adults

Plans and develops with local partners a variety of home and community-based services for older people so that older people can stay in their own homes and communities - Consults on a wide range of topics from demographic changes and needs of older people to programs and services for a variety of organizations, individuals, and businesses - Leverages resources and grant or contract funds to local providers - Provides demographic and service need analysis that informs policy makers, the public and media - Provides TA to Age-Friendly communities, a concept so that communities in the region are responsive and sensitive to the needs of older adults and their caregivers - Provides technical assistance for local service development projects, including state Live Well at Home funds under the Eldercare Development Project

Partners with members of the anti-hunger community to address the challenges of food insecurity throughout the state of Minnesota. Advocates on hunger issues at the local, state, and national levels encouraging legislators and other decision makers to lend a compassionate voice to public policy debates that impact Minnesota families living in poverty.

Offers linkages and referrals to appropriate resources including prenatal care, parent education, health care, child care and preschool, and public assistance. Activities include home visits, kindergarten readiness activities, group activities, family events, and community building.
