County service linking businesses, institutions, farms, and individuals discarding usable materials with those who can reuse them. Chemicals, construction materials, electronics, glass, oils, waxes, paint, coatings, paper, plastic, rubber, textiles, leather, transportation materials, wood waste, appliances, residential, and household items, etc.

Reuse Store: In an effort to divert hazardous waste from entering the environment, the Reuse Store encourages reusing materials that come into the Household Hazardous Waste facility. These products are available to residents of the Tri-County area free of charge. Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste Mobile Unit: The mobile unit stops in many communities throughout the summer for free drop off. Call for more information. Car Seat Recycling Program: Residents can drop off their used car seats and they will be disassembled and parts recycled Also provides the Stearns County Waste Wizard Mobile App. It is a tool that will help determine whether a specific item should be recycled, composted, or dropped off at the Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste Facility. The mobile app that provides specific instructions on how to dispose of household items.

Household hazardous waste program for the region serving multiple counties. The facility helps residents properly dispose of items that contain toxic and potentially hazardous ingredients, such as cleansers, paints, oils, pesticides, etc.

• Clean Shop: licensed to accept hazardous waste generated from businesses and farming operations. For those businesses that are already registered with a Minnesota waste ID, the center can accept waste from Minimal Generators (MG) and Very Small Quantity Generators (VSQG).

• Product Exchange: keeps a product reuse shelf where residents can reuse items that are received but are in good working order. New items arrive daily and are available for free.

• Batteries are accepted at drop-off containers located in libraries, city halls and community centers throughout the county; can also be brought to the drop-off facilities.

• Educational materials on reducing household hazardous waste, tips and tricks to expand and make recycling in the home easier, making homemade cleaners and safely using, storing and disposing of products.

• Fix-it Clinics: Get household items fixed for free and learn valuable repair skills from volunteers. Bring in small household appliances, clothing, electronics, mobile devices and more and receive free guided assistance to disassemble, troubleshoot and fix items. Volunteer opportunities for persons interested in and have skills for soldering, electronics repair, electrical repair, sewing, wood working and general tinkering.

• Free Product Centers: Residents can pick up usable products that were previously dropped off for free. Centers are located at each drop-off facility.

• Medicine Disposal: Provides green medicine drop boxes located at law enforcement facilities throughout Hennepin County for residents to dispose of medicines. • Recycling and Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Facilities: Provides two year-round drop-off facilities where residents can get rid of recycling, electronics, appliances and household hazardous waste.

RE-USE Room: Residents and businesses can look through thousands of household products to take. Commonly found items include interior and exterior house paint; stain and varnish; spray paint; automotive products (antifreeze and other fluids, oils and lubricants, waxes and cleaners); lawn and garden products; household items (cleaning chemicals, tile products, caulk, adhesives, and putty).

Develops programs to protect and clean up the environment, protect groundwater, and establish management of solid waste in Nobles County. Offers its citizens a comprehensive recycling program through curbside and drop-box collection services throughout the county. Also works with the county planning commission which makes recommendations to the County Board of Commissioners regarding conditional use permits, subdivision plats, Zoning Ordinance amendments, and other issues as needed.
