The Resource Recovery Center uses a single stream recycling program. All recyclable newspaper, magazine, junk mail, all office and computer paper, cardboard, telephone books, hard and soft covered books, cake/cereal/chip/cracker boxes, brochures, paper bags, glass bottles and jars, tin cans, aluminum cans, foil and plates, plastic bottles and jugs, and ice cream pails can be put in the same container for pick up. City residential and business recycling collection schedules vary; contact local hauler or city hall for schedule. RURAL RECYCLING PROGRAM: All recyclable newspaper, magazine, junk mail, all office and computer paper, cardboard, telephone books, hard and soft covered books, cake/cereal/chip/cracker boxes, brochures, paper bags, glass bottles and jars, tin cans, aluminum cans, foil and plates, plastic bottles and jugs, and ice cream pails can be put in the same container. The recycling center also accepts the following problem materials for recycling: used oil and oil filters, tires, antifreeze, fluorescent and high intensity discharge light bulbs, CFLs, ballasts, appliances, lead-acid batteries, button batteries, rechargeable batteries, and scrap metal. The following items are accepted: clean and dry clothing, bedding, curtains, scatter rugs, belts, shoes, purses; stained materials accepted, must be clean and dry. Accepts drop-off of household recyclables: - Container recycling: includes jars, bottles and cans made from glass, plastic and metal. These can all be mixed together. - Mixed paper: includes newspapers, cereal boxes, soda cases, office paper, junk mail, etc. This paper can all be mixed and recycled together. - Corrugated cardboard: (boxes and packaging with a ripple between two smooth layers). For rural residents in the WLSSD service area rural recycling drop-off sites available, here. Provides educational services and information to residents and businesses. Duluth residents have curbside recycling bins that are picked up and processed by their regular garbage haulers.
Residents are provided means to recycle through the Solid Waste Management Program provided by Waste Management of Bemidji. They provide recycling areas at both Bemidji and Blackduck Solid Waste Transfer Stations. There are rural sites located at strategic points throughout the county. Develops programs to protect and clean up the environment, protect groundwater, and establish management of solid waste in Nobles County. Offers its citizens a comprehensive recycling program through curbside and drop-box collection services throughout the county. Also works with the county planning commission which makes recommendations to the County Board of Commissioners regarding conditional use permits, subdivision plats, Zoning Ordinance amendments, and other issues as needed.
