Emergency & Disaster Service - Salvation Army - Itasca County

Emergency services available in the form of goods, clothing, food, shelter, etc. in the cases of natural disaster, fire, flooding, etc. Salvation Army Canteen available for emergency assistance also. A private, non-profit organization serving Itasca County. (Requests from outside of the county will not necessarily be denied) The purpose of Salvation Army is to provide moral and spiritual support, material goods, food, shelter, and transportation for those unable to provide for themselves. Every situation is reviewed individually. Conditions of service: - Will maintain anonymity and confidentiality - Will require name, address and Social Security number in order to provide ANY services - If a person doesn't have a Social Security card, a driver's license may be acceptable. Practice first aid and triage, using fire extinguishers, and basic search and rescue in a casual atmosphere. Build your own evacuation and shelter kits. - Firewise: Resource to for homeowners to reduce the risk of a fire damage to their home by taking some simple preventive actions. Homeowners can become a recognized Firewise USA site. - Volunteer Opportunities: - CERT team supports emergency response to natural and man-made emergencies and disasters through education, training, response and recovery - Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services / Amateur Radio Emergency Services (RACES/ARES) serves as a back-up for public safety communications during emergencies and disasters, when traditional methods of communication are overwhelmed or fail - Emergency Services Chaplains provide emotional and spiritual support to all emergency responders and their families, as well as victims of crime or crisis served by our responders

CLOSED Federal At-Home Testing More information on how to get the At-Home Over-The-Counter COVID-19 Test for free can be found on the US Department of Health and Human Services webpage. The tests will be available via mail starting at the end of September, 2024. State At-Home Testing Update 6/16/2025: Visit the Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 Testing website for more information on where to test, which test to take, when to test and more information on testing. This service is free and available seven days a week, additional information can be accessed here.
