Engages the community in collecting donations of new school supplies and backpacks. Donations received are then sorted and packed into new backpacks that are distributed to registered Douglas and Pope County K-12 students.

Throughout the winter months, families can go to a Salvation Army service center for a coat. Parents will receive one coat and one accessory per child. A photo ID & current piece of mail for the parent, and a form of ID for each child (medical card, Social Security card, birth certificate, school ID, etc.). - Thanksgiving Baskets at limited locations - Christmas program provides gifts for children 14 and under as well as food assistance.

Greater Twin Cities United Way - Action Day 2025 UNITED WAY ACTION DAY BACKPACKS Follow the link to view a list of agencies that received the United Way Action Day backpacks. NOTE: Agencies may distribute their own backpacks to already existing clients and/or provide them to individuals who are not current clients. Individuals can contact an agency to determine if they are eligible to receive a backpack from them or not. Residents of school districts should contact their school district's office or social worker.

Available volunteer positions range from court advocacy to roles in maintenance, mentorship, office assistance, public speaking, reception and transportation support.
