Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner Program - SAFE - M Health Fairview - Ridges Hospital

Provides on-call services for victims of sexual assault or abuse who are ages 13 and older. Children ages 12 and younger are referred to a clinic specialized to meet their needs. Service includes: - Care of physical injuries - Sexually transmitted disease prevention and education - Pregnancy risk assessment - Evidence collection - Crisis intervention and supportive counseling

All services are confidential. Does not recommend, refer for, or provide abortions. Pro-life services include: - Abortion alternatives and education - Abstinence education including one-on-one and presentations - Community referrals and resources - Pregnancy tests - Limited obstetrical ultrasound for pregnancy confirmation - Parenting educational program in which points are earned for completing educational goals. Points are exchanged for material assistance such as baby equipment and items. The program is designed to benefit parents and children. Helps to establish better parenting skills, learn about pregnancy, and develop healthy relationships. Life skills classes are also offered regarding budgeting, decision making, job skills, meal planning, renting a place to live, and more. - Peer counseling, abortion vs. adoption vs. parenting decision - Post abortion recovery help - Program for fathers including information on their rights and more. Mentoring for expectant fathers - Sexually transmitted infection information - Sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment for chlamydia and gonorrhea (urine based test)
