Senior Programs - Keystone Community Services

Active Seniors: Provides adults 55+ with a variety of diverse activities such as exercise, wellness, and social/recreation designed to support independence Care Consultation: Keystone Care Consultants help seniors navigate their health, economic, and social needs. Care managers meet with individuals in their homes or at one of the community centers to conduct an assessment, gather input from caregivers, and create goals. Once the assessment is complete, services may include: setting up rides to a social program, researching housing options, making a referral to an agency that helps with grocery shopping and/or cleaning, providing caregiver support, and accompanying seniors to doctor visits. Grocery Delivery: Provides free grocery delivery for low-income seniors and adults with disabilities. Those who qualify can receive monthly deliveries. Delivery can include meat, dairy, fresh produce, and shelf-stable items. In each delivery, individuals will receive an average of 25 pounds of food per person in the household. Accommodations are based on customer choice models such as vegetarian, halal, etc. depending on what is available. Deliveries will be dropped off between 12:15 pm and 1:30 pm Tuesday - Thursday by a volunteer. In-Home Help: Social workers coordinate with Recover Health to provide seniors with in-home nursing care, in-home therapies, and home health aides to assist with daily care. ?Tax Preparation Assistance: Provides tax services in coordination with AARP to seniors. Provides a hot, nutritious noon meal to older adults, adults with disabilities, or adults who are terminally ill and with limited mobility who are unable to prepare their own meals. Meals are provided by local caterers and delivered by volunteers. Program Coordinators will meet individually with client to discuss nutrition and other services available to aid them in remaining independent. Volunteer opportunities available to drive for Meals on Wheels.

Food Shelf - ACBC Food Shelf and Thrift Store

- Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP): Provides low-income adults ages 60 and older with additional food and nutrition education. Items are selected by participants each month. - Food Shelf Market: Can be utilized once each month. Individuals receive a 7-to-10-day supply of food including fresh produce, meat, dairy, eggs, bread, shelf-stable, pet food, hygiene, and more. Choices can not be guaranteed due to limited quantity of items. - Summer Food for Kids: During the regular food shopping appointment, households with school-age children have the option to choose additional 'kid-friendly' food - Weekly Program: Additional food services available for those who are experiencing homelessness. Other special events such as produce distributions and additional shopping opportunities on select Fridays. - Personal care items and food donations are accepted

Neighbor to Neighbor Companions - Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota - Metro

Provides companionship services to isolated, home-bound seniors. Services may include assistance with errands, grocery shopping or transportation to appointments, assisting with correspondence or simple household tasks, share an interest or hobby, lunch outings or enjoying a walk. Provides volunteer opportunities for adults 55 years plus who would like to help others remain independent in their own homes. Clients receive: - Companionship and visiting to the isolated elderly clients - Assistance in personal needs such as shopping, medical appointments, letter writing, socialization - Respite care for caregivers. Senior Companions serve 15 - 20 hours a week and receive a tax free stipend plus transportation allowance.

Free Tax Preparation Assistance - Prepare and Prosper

Provides comprehensive free tax assistance, from late January to October, to low- and moderate-income Minnesota taxpayers. Provides the following services: - Do It Yourself Prep: Online training is available to help individuals get ready to file their taxes, and a Self-Prep Tax Guide and the software individuals need to file taxes for free is provided. Individuals need to reserve a spot in the webinar. 50 slots are available per webinar and it will be offered once a week starting in February continuing to April 20. Webinar scheduling availability changes from day to day so check the website to see what is available often for an opening. - DIY Tax Prep: This option is available for people with annual incomes under $73,000 who have access to technology. This program will include a link to create a free TaxSlayer account so individuals can prepare and electronically file their federal and state income taxes as well as the Minnesota property tax refund. Includes a Do-it-Yourself Tax Prep Guide, a useful resource to help individuals navigate tax situations and the tax software. They will offer weekly training on navigating TaxSlayer. Additionally, support will be provided via email and phone to get individuals over the finish line and file if they get stuck in their tax returns. - Tax Prep: Appointments are conducted multiple site locations across the Twin Cities. Appointment scheduling begins January 27th until full. Appointments are only scheduled two weeks out at a time. Click here to make an appointment and find tax preparation sites.
