Support Groups for Young Adults and Adults - NAMI Minnesota
Provides the following support groups:
?- BIPOC Connection Support Groups: NAMI offers free support group for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) adults living with mental illness. Groups meet regularly to support attendees, build awareness and understanding, and to connect with others in the community who face similar challenges. Groups and facilitators offer privacy and confidentiality. Click here for a full list of support groups.
- Dual Diagnosis Support Groups: NAMI Minnesota's dual diagnosis support groups are for adults living with both a mental illness and a substance use disorder or addiction. Groups are free and meet weekly for 90 minutes. Participants can find support, learn skills to deal with substance abuse, and connect with others who face similar challenges. - NAMI Connection: NAMI Connection is a support group for adults living with mental illness. Groups are free and meet for 90 minutes. The Open Door program is based on the book Embracing the Fear: Learning to Manage Anxiety and Panic Attacks by Judith Bemis and Amr Barrada. Refugee and Immigrant Mental Health and Social Adjustment Services - Community University Health Care Center
Offers Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) for Southeast Asians, Latinos and Somalis suffering from severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression or other mental illnesses.
Services include:
- Advocacy for daily living problems
- Adult mental health case management (Rule 79)
- Crisis intervention
- Psychiatric services including diagnostic assessments and treatment
- Service to refugee and immigrant victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse
- Supportive counseling for individuals and families
- Support groups

Treatment Foster Care - Kindred Family Focus - Beltrami
- Provides treatment Foster Care for children and adolescents in the Bemidji, Cass Lake, Greenbush, LaPorte, Lake George, Park Rapids, Blackduck, Bagley, Crookston, Northome, Roseau, Warroad and surrounding rural areas
- Need a referral from County Social Services, Probatrion, Tribal Social services
- 1/4 of foster families are Native American providing placement for Native American youth
- Individualized treatment plans and assessments
- Quarterly review with all team members
- Coordination of resources to assist child and family to achieve reunification, whenever possible
- 24 hour on-call availability by social work personnel to foster families, birth families and children
- Monthly support meetings and array of educational offerings to foster families
- Collaboration between referral service and worker allowing for better understanding and delivery of services Specialty areas of foster families include but are not limited to:
- SED population
- Sexual offenders
- Conduct Disorders
- Developmentally disabled
- Attention deficit disorder
- Oppositional defiant disorder
- Medically complex cases
- Depression
- Fetal Alcohol Syndrome - FAS

- Physical limitations requiring emotional support
- Fear of leaving home/isolation
- Feeling loss of independence
- Loss of interest in previously enjoyable activities
- Loss of a spouse or close family member
- Traumatic experiences
After assessing an individual's needs, participants meet up to three times per week in a group setting.
The program staff includes a board-certified psychiatrist, licensed therapists, a registered nurse, and other professionals dedicated to the emotional well-being of the seniors in our community.

- Walk-in and telephone assistance for both youth and adults, and mobile response teams providing consultation and referral for mental health crises and suicide prevention.
- Bridges Group: Free group for anyone who wants to learn more about substance abuse and mental health issues and about available resources. Held 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm Tuesday and Friday in the first floor main conference room.
- Chemical health screening
- Community and family education on mental health and suicide prevention.
- Crisis stabilization services
