Treaty-Based Conservation Services - 1854 Treaty Authority

Regulates off-reservation hunting, trapping, and fishing seasons/limits for enrolled band members. Additional services include: - Issues licenses and carcass tags to hunters - Registers harvested animals in accordance with the Conservation Code and the 1988 Agreement with the State of Minnesota. Also plays an active role in monitoring the status of natural resources within the Ceded Territory. Telephone Service Discounts - Minnesota Public Utilities Commission - Consumer Affairs Office

The federal Lifeline and the state Telephone Assistance Program (TAP) provide a monthly discount on phone bills, including cell phones. Lifeline is a discount of approximately $9.25, which can be used for wireless phones, broadband internet, home phones, or a bundle. Some cellular companies may provide free cellular phones, and additional discounts or minutes. TAP is a discount of $7 that can only be used for home phones. Those living on federally recognized tribal lands/reservations can receive additional discounts. Customers cannot receive multiple discounts (landline and wireless, or two wireless). Only one discount per household is allowed. The discount continues for as long as the consumer remains eligible, but eligibility must be certified on an annual basis. While all local telephone companies offer TAP, not all local telephone companies are required to offer Lifeline. Many working and low-income families are eligible for WIC benefits. Cultural Resources Division - Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe

Heritage Sites Program - Conducts archaeological research within the Leech Lake Reservation, the Chippewa National Forest, and other areas within Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. We are a profit-based Program, combing cultural resource management (CRM) with money-generating aim, which benefits both the cultural resources and the LLBO. Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO) - Oversees cultural resources within Reservation boundaries and advises federal, state, and county agencies in the management of cultural and historic properties throughout the region -Ensures all cultural properties are protected and preserved under current historic preservation legislation, including federal, state, and tribal regulations and ordinances.
