Alternatives to Violence Project - AVP - Friends for a NonViolent World

Offers three experiential workshops in nonviolence and conflict resolution. The workshops teach: - Conflict management skills, understanding the underlying causes of violence, team building, and leadership skills - Discussion topics to understand affirmation, communication, cooperation, and conflict resolution - Every participant to find their innate power to positively transform themselves first and the world they live in - Training facilitator workshops to focus on facilitation skills to become successful facilitators. The curriculum includes learning to build agendas for a basic level workshop, feedback, team skills, facilitation techniques, and leadership training.

Alzheimer's and Dementia Care: Provides individualized assessments for evaluating cognitive and functional levels. Services include: - Promoting independence in dressing, bathing, toileting and assistance with memory, communication and swallowing difficulties - Provide education with addressing physical health needs, medication management, strength development and fall risk reduction - Teaching families and caregivers strategies for managing the care needs of their loved ones - Teaching how to effectively respond to challenging behaviors such as aggression, agitation, and repetition - Treatment planning Home Health Aide (HHA): Home Health Aides are responsible for documenting the care provided to individuals, and notifying the case manager of any changes in health. Home Health Aides may assist in the following areas: - Assistance with dressing - Bathing, washing hair and shaving - Getting in/out of bed - Maintaining a safe living environment - Monitoring blood pressure, temperature and other vital signs Skilled Nursing: Provide in home care services while recovering from an illness, injury, or event. High Rise Social Services - Volunteers of America Minnesota and Wisconsin

Provides older adults and individuals with disabilities with services and supports that help them thrive while living independently and remain safely in their own homes. Community Health Workers and Social Workers serve older adults and individuals with disabilities in 40 Minneapolis Public Housing Authority high-rises and Village at Franklin Station affordable housing property in Minneapolis. Services may include assistance with self-managing chronic health conditions, improve connections to community services, navigate and access health systems, address transportation barriers, and attend doctor appointments to assist with translation and advocacy. Social Workers help individuals navigate complex systems, such as economic assistance, physical and mental health systems, financial concerns, housing needs, and personal crisis. Bilingual Somali team members are available to meet the language and specialized cultural needs of Somali residents as well as remote translation services to meet the language needs of all residents.
