Women, Infants and Children Program - WIC - Steele County Public Health

Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program is a supplemental food and nutrition program for women with a low-income, pregnant, breastfeeding, and/or postpartum and infants and young children who are at nutritional risk. The purpose is to prevent health problems and to improve the health of the program participants during critical times of growth and development. The WIC Program provides nutrition education, access to health services, referrals to health and other social services, and vouchers for supplemental foods. The food vouchers list the types and quantities of WIC foods that are consistent with the participant's nutritional needs.

Public Health - Pennington and Red Lake County Public Health and Home Care

Services can include injections, catheterizations, pain management, dementia care, and bandage changes to treat sores or infections. Health care is provided by or under the supervision of qualified nursing staff. - Blood pressure and blood sugar checks - Emergency preparedness - Foot care - Flu information - Health promotion - Maternal and child health care - Tobacco cessation - Tobacco retailer training to prevent youth purchases Please note: Individuals are encouraged to get vaccinations through their primary care clinic. If not possible, call the office for availability of vaccines.

Provides educational classes to pregnant women, mothers, parents, or individuals making an adoption plan to engage in positive mentor relationships, life coaching, setting goals, and activities, with the opportunity to earn items.
