The Child Support Division assists with: - Locating parents. - Establishing parentage. - Establishing and enforcing court orders for child support, medical support, and child care support. - Reviewing and modifying court orders for support. - Adjusting court orders based on the cost-of-living index. - Works with other states to enforce support when one parent does not live in Minnesota. - Collecting and processing payments. Minnesota Child Support Online: www.childsupport.dhs.state.mn.us/ Minnesota Child Support Online is an interactive web site developed by the State of Minnesota to provide child support participants with information about their case(s). NOTE: Either parent of a child may get certain child support services. Parents who do not receive public assistance can apply for services at their county child support office for a one-time $25 service fee. Parents who receive public assistance for a child whose other parent does not live with them are automatically referred for services and are not charged a service fee.

Home visiting service by public health nurses during pregnancy and through the first two years of life after a baby is born. Home visits are voluntary and there is no charge. Visits focus on the woman's health, the infant's health and development, parenting and caretaking role, and the family's plans for the future. The program includes: - Childbirth and breastfeeding education - Family planning information - Health screenings and linkage to community resources - Lead counseling - Mental wellbeing referrals and support - Parenting education and child developmental screenings - Supportive nurse visits - Smoking cessation information - WIC/nutrition counseling

ECFE is a parenting education program for all Minnesota families with children between the ages of birth to Kindergarten entrance. Learning opportunities through ECFE may occur in a variety of settings, such as the families' homes, district or community sites, and online parenting education and support. Programming and education services often include parents/caregivers and children but may just include parents/caregivers. Classes and special events are planned to be enjoyable learning experiences for both parents and children together. Classes usually meet once a week for 90 minutes during the fall, winter, and spring sessions. A typical ECFE class begins with a "parent-child time," where parents and children participate in fun learning activities together. Families join together for a circle time to enjoy songs and finger plays. Parents later join a parenting discussion by a parent educator while children continue their play with an early childhood teacher in the children's classroom. Works to strengthen families and engage the ability of all parents to provide an environment that supports the healthy development of their child. The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) is Minnesota's version of TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). MFIP helps families work their way out of poverty by providing temporary cash and food benefits to eligible families. There is a 60-month time limit with some limited exceptions. Participants are required to follow certain work rules and failure to meet work rules will result in their MFIP grant being sanctioned or reduced. In addition, child support will be pursued in those situations where one or both parents are absent. A woman expecting a baby may receive assistance for herself during her pregnancy. Children who are being cared for by certain relatives may receive assistance. MFIP recipients may also be eligible for Emergency Assistance, Child Care Assistance, Medical Assistance and/or Food Support.

Specialized and Whole Family Foster Care: Offers emergency, short-term, long-term, and whole-family foster services. Provides an intensive treatment program in a foster care environment for youth with specialized treatment needs. Provides support for at-risk parents. Skilled foster parents work with families to teach parenting skills through modeling parenting techniques, setting examples and providing education.

- Provides as alternative educational setting for pregnant and parenting teens. - TAPP meets every Monday and Tuesday during the school year, at the Itasca Resource Center, for classes. - TAPP students are enrolled at the Alternative Learning Center, in Grand Rapids, on Tuesday during the school year or return to the traditional school setting at their respective area High Schools for the remainder of the week. - Children of TAPP students are enrolled in Early Head Start and attend in the purple room at the Itasca Resource Center on Monday or Tuesday throughout the Academic year. - Teen Parents may earn hours of credit towards their high school diploma by attending and actively participating in the classes.

Provides community health programs such as: - Child and Teen Checkup Outreach: Helps families find a doctor, dentist, psychologist, and transportation - Disease and Prevention Control: Monitor and investigate potential disease processes through adult/child immunizations, communicable disease prevention programs, emergency preparedness plans, surveillance of the county's environment, and tuberculosis screening - Environmental Health: Help protect the residents from environmental health hazards through programs to reduce exposure to health risks, such as food and waterborne diseases, radiation, occupational health hazards, and public health nuisances. Provides radon, lead, and well water education. - Follow-Along Program: Provides parents with information about their child's development during infancy and early childhood through mailing questionnaires - Health Promotion: Provides presentations and/or materials on health topics for small and large groups. Topics may include chemical and tobacco use prevention, family health, mental health, nutrition, and physical activity - Public Health Preparedness for Emergencies: Funded by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in partnership with local, state, and territorial public health departments to provide assistance to public health departments across the nation. Helps health departments strengthen abilities to effectively respond to a range of public health threats, including infectious diseases, natural disasters, and biological, chemical, nuclear, and radiological events.
