Maternal And Child Health/Newborn Home Visits - Aitkin County Health and Human Services

Services to individuals and families are provided to promote healthy pregnancies, infants, children and families Home visits to pregnant women offer support and information regarding pregnancy, labor and delivery Information includes but is not limited to: - Physical activity and exercise - Nutrition - Problems associated with smoking, drinking and drugs - Use of medications during pregnancy - Preparation for labor and delivery - Free Prenatal education classes to expectant parents Classes include: - Five two hour classes held on 5 consecutive Wednesdays, from 7 pm to 9 pm at Riverwood Health Care Center - Teaching of breathing and relaxation techniques - Call for dates of next classes Free home visits to all families with newborns Visits include: - Free welcome basket including safety and hygiene supplies - Physical assessment of infant and mother - Information on infant feedings, behavior and development, safety, sleep habits, immunizations, parenting skills, child care, etc - Answers to questions regarding infant and self care - Information on the emotional and social adjustments related to parenting - Family planning information Call to make an appointment for a FREE home visit

Childbirth Classes - Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital

- Classes designed to prepare a woman emotionally, psychologically and physically for childbirth. - Labor/Delivery Classes - Five 2-hour sessions in 5th to 6th month of pregnancy $45 fee. - Infant Care - Two 2-hour sessions - No charge for class - Breast Feeding & Nutrition Classes - One 2-hour session - No Charge - They do have "scholarships" available for those who want to attend but cannot afford the fee. - First Saturday of every month

Parent & Child Health - Prenatal - Counseling and education offered to pregnant adolescents and other high risk pregnant women Postpartum/New Born visits Counseling and teaching are offered in the areas of: - Safety - Nutrition - Growth - Development - Health maintenance - Normal behavior problems Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) - Visits are provided to families experiencing this syndrome to offer education and support - Child Health Screening - Child & Teen Checkups - Program is based on the preventive health philosophy of discovering & treating health problems before they become disabling - Children from 6 months to 12 years can be screened Service provide: - Height - Weight - Hearing - Vision - Development - Physical assessment - Nutrition counseling - Immunizations - Lab work for hemoglobin and lead - Urinalysis - Water Testing For Fluoride - Well water testing are required before physicians can prescribe fluoride to children - Results are mailed to families, physicians and dentists of choice - School Health - Child health screening - Education programs - Immunizations - Counseling - Consultation

The Good Father Program - Pregnancy Choices

Offers one-on-one life coaching from certified male life coaches, fatherhood groups, and parenting courses at no cost to clients. Helps fathers raise awareness, increase confidence, and create action to meet personal and professional goals. Parenting classes consist of self-care, parenting skills, and relationship skills. Meetings are conducted via Zoom for The Good Father Group. Email for more information.
