Learning opportunities through ECFE may occur in a variety of settings, such as the families' homes, district or community sites, and online parenting education and support. Families join together for a circle time to enjoy songs and finger plays. Parents later join a parenting discussion by a parent educator while children continue their play with an early childhood teacher in the children's classroom. Works to strengthen families and engage the ability of all parents to provide an environment that supports the healthy development of their child. Services may include: - Parent-child activities - Parent discussion groups - Play and learn activities for children - Home visits - Special events for the entire family - Book and toy lending library - Information on community resources - Programs for non-English language learners - Workshops on specific topics - School readiness program for children age 3 1/2 - 4 - Early childhood screening for children ages 3 - 5 - Dad and child programs - Single parent program

Minnesota Family Investment Program - MFIP - Mille Lacs County Community and Veterans Services - Financial Assistance

The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) in Minnesota's version of TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). MFIP helps families with children meet their basic needs, while helping parents to move to financial stability through work. The program provides a monthly cash payment to help supplement a family's income as they move from public assistance to employment. Participants must meet program requirements, or their benefits will be reduced. Lifetime benefits are limited to 60 months. When families first apply for cash assistance, they will start in the Diversionary Work Program (DWP). It is a four-month program that helps parents go to work right away rather than enroll in MFIP.
