Assists eligible individuals and families secure a low-interest car loan, and provides down payment assistance for gently used, reliable vehicles. Car ownership/financial education and case management support are also available; see website for application and additional information.

Car distribution: receives, inspects, and repairs donated cars and then distributes them to residents to help them achieve economic security and self-sufficiency. The goal is to help people move from welfare to work, immigrants or refugees who are unable to establish credit to purchase a vehicle needed for work, underemployed, unemployed, people with disabilities, seniors and students. Car repair: repairs are only provided once for any applicant, and it is not available if the client already received a donated vehicle from DCCCP (unless special funding is available). When the application process is complete, an appointment will be made to evaluate the client's vehicle to determine if the repair is: - Essential for safety or reliability of the vehicle - Reasonable based on the vehicle's age and condition - Within the budget limits of DCCCP or other resources can pay for the difference - Able to be completed in the four hour block of time when volunteers are available.

Provides low cost vehicles for sale after they have been assessed for safety after being donated to the agency. The vehicle proceeds go into future vehicle repairs and fund the availability of the program. When a vehicle is available for sale it will be posted on Tri-CAP's website linked below. Anyone interested in purchasing a vehicle must first apply and be approved in the program.
