Interagency Early Intervention Committee - Houston County Public Health Department

The Interagency Early Intervention Committee provides a coordinated effort in making referrals and offering resources to parents and families of children ages birth to 5 who have special needs or are considered at risk of developing special needs. The organization provides assistance and coordination with the IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan) process, referrals to needed services, and advocacy to parents and children.

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Services - Minnesota Department of Education

Offers mediation services which help parents and guardians work through disagreements that may arise during the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. These meetings take place in a neutral location and are designed to promote understanding and cooperation. Services are led by a qualified, impartial mediator who understands special education laws and regulations and promotes respectful, open communication and creative problem-solving in a confidential setting. The process is structured but informal, and held at a location convenient for all parties, which helps parents/guardians, school staff, and agency personnel resolve conflicts.

Inclusive Community Events and Education Program - ConnectAbility of MN

The program builds bridges, allowing those living with a disability access to activities and events they would not normally have. Program developers create a calendar of activities that provide social, physical, and mental benefits for all ages, levels of disability, and their families/caregivers. The Inclusive Community Program also advocates for - Inclusive community areas - Accessibility rights - Education assistance for students living with a disability This program also manages the fundraising events for UCP of Central MN. These events bring those with disabilities together with family and community members to raise funds for UCP programs. ??Helps parents and others navigate systems that serve children and young adults with disabilities in areas such as special education, mental health, and transition to adulthood. Service areas include: - Individual assistance: Advocates are available by phone and email to guide families, explain available options, and share additional resources. Advocates who speak Spanish and Somali are available and will work to assist in other languages upon request. - Information dissemination: Provides printable and online resources with practical tips for accessing services for children and youth with disabilities. - Trainings and workshops: Provides free virtual and in-person trainings and seminars to educate parents of children with disabilities and professionals on various topics related to special education and other disability services.
