Adoption and Foster Care Support Group Olmsted County sponsors a parent-led adoption support group. The group is open to the public and tailored to meet support and educational needs of foster parents, families considering adoption, or families who have adopted privately, publicly, domestically, or internationally. Mission is to offer families a forum to receive post-adoption support that will enable them to: - Enhance their ability to manage the complexity and lifelong process of adoption - Form new partnerships with other adoptive families - Learn about new resources and training - Network with other adoptive families - Share questions and concerns with group members Child care provided on-site by a social worker. Adoption Services Provides adoption services to children in the Minnesota Waiting Children's Program and the families who seek to adopt them. - Children who are available for adoption come from throughout the State of Minnesota and almost all of them have been removed from their biological families due to abuse or neglect - Most waiting children are over the age of 8, many have physical and/or emotional disabilities, some are brothers and sisters who want to stay together, and many are children of color Before becoming eligible to adopt, an individual needs to go through a licensing process.

Adoption services include placement, guardianship, and counseling for children and adoptive parents. Most children are school aged and have experienced emotional, physical, and/or sexual abuse. Some children have learning disabilities or developmental delays, are a sibling group to be adopted together, have had prenatal exposure to drugs and/or alcohol, or may struggle with emotional/behavioral problems related to their experiences and who may require extra patience and care.
