Family Adoption Services does not offer any services for private adoptions. Adoption services, including placement, guardianship, and counseling for children and adoptive parents

Adoption and Foster Care Support Group Olmsted County sponsors a parent-led adoption support group. The group is open to the public and tailored to meet support and educational needs of foster parents, families considering adoption, or families who have adopted privately, publicly, domestically, or internationally. Mission is to offer families a forum to receive post-adoption support that will enable them to:

• Enhance their ability to manage the complexity and lifelong process of adoption

• Form new partnerships with other adoptive families

• Learn about new resources and training

• Network with other adoptive families

• Share questions and concerns with group members

Child care provided on-site by a social worker. Adoption Services Provides adoption services to children in the Minnesota Waiting Children's Program and the families who seek to adopt them.

• Children who are available for adoption come from throughout the State of Minnesota and almost all of them have been removed from their biological families due to abuse or neglect

• Most waiting children are over the age of 8, many have physical and/or emotional disabilities, some are brothers and sisters who want to stay together, and many are children of color

Before becoming eligible to adopt, an individual needs to go through a licensing process.

• Offers foster-parent orientation and training on child welfare, cultural practices, and caring for children with special needs

• Coordination and support services for United States and international adoptions

• Legal adoption (finalization) assistance

• Post adoption counseling and support

• Recruitment of families for child adoption

Provides information and licensing for individuals interested in becoming a foster care provider and kinship placement. Also provides:

• Recruitment, adoption information, and registration for persons wanting to adopt older and special needs children

• Post-adoption services including information regarding genetic searches, adoption assistance benefits, and resources

Adoption services including placement, guardianship, and counseling for children and adoptive parents

Pro-life pregnancy resource center that offers free abortion information, adoption information and referrals, maternity and infant items, medical referrals, parenting education, post-abortion support, pregnancy options information, pregnancy testing, sexually transmitted disease (STD) and sexually transmitted infection (STI) information, and support for men. NOTE: Does not offer or refer for pregnancy terminations or birth control. Information is provided as an educational service and should not be relied on as a substitute for professional and/or medical advice.

Offers free counseling, help with choosing an adoptive family, legal referral, financial assistance (for housing, medical, transport, etc.), hospital-stay planning, and post-placement support.
