Locks and helmets are available. Care call-In Free service offered to family for peace of mind and safety, seniors call the center by 9 am or they will receive a call to check on them. Friendly Visiting and Chore Services - CREST - Caregiver Response Effort and Service Team

Non-professional services provided: - Errand running and shopping assistance - Friendly visiting - Light housekeeping - Meal preparation - Mail management and personal correspondence - Telephone reassurance - Volunteers do not give medications, do not assist in transferring sitting to bed, etc. Transportation to appointments, church, social engagements, and shopping: - No fee - donation accepted - Must have 2 days advance notice - NOT wheelchair accessible - Both curb-to-curb and door-to-door service available depending upon need Repairs and minor maintenance of home and yard, including snow removal. There is insurance coverage for volunteers during the times they are providing CREST services.

In-Home Assistance - Neighborhood Network for Seniors

Provides a wide variety of free and low-cost home health care services. Services provided: - Blood pressure checks from an outreach nurse - Community education seminars designed for caregivers, seniors, family members, and the public on a variety of topics for older adults - Computer/technology help - Friendly visits from volunteers to help with transportation, chore support, grocery shopping assistance, meal preparation, plant care, pet care, telephone reassurance, or offer emotional support. Services are based upon volunteers and their availability to offer services. - Home safety checks to meet with older adults and discuss their needs, develop a care plan, and refer to professional services - Home chore assistance including seasonal yard work and occasional snow shoveling. Yard work may include spring and fall cleanup, installation of window AC's, and help around the house. - In-home foot care for non-diabetic individuals for a fee - In-home health assessment for a free in-home nurse visit to discuss health concerns and goals - Rides to medical appointments with at least 1-2 weeks' notice before an appointment

Telecare - Winona Health Hospital and Health Services

Telecare provides telephone reassurance to people living alone (i.e. homebound and elderly) who might require medical or emergency care. Volunteers provide daily phone contact to people who live alone and who feel reassured by outside contact. Clients call into Telecare between 8 am and 10 am every day. If a call is not received, a check-up call is placed promptly and if there is no response a relative or neighbor is contacted or, if necessary, the police are notified.

Offers a comprehensive range of services designed to support older adults and individuals with disabilities in living safely and independently in their own homes and communities. Services include: - Advocacy: Connecting clients with resources such as the Minnesota Ombudsman Program. - Assisted Transportation: Volunteers offer in-town and out-of-town rides, with a sliding fee scale available for out-of-town trips. - Caregiver Support and Respite: Support groups and respite care to assist family caregivers in managing their responsibilities. - Correspondence Assistance: Helping individuals maintain connections with loved ones through letters and other forms of communication. - Friendly Visits and Telephone Reassurance: Regular in-person or phone check-ins to reduce isolation and provide companionship. - Health Education: Promotes wellness and chronic disease management - Information and Referral: Assistance in navigating community resources and services. - Light Housekeeping and Chores: Help with tasks such as changing light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, and light cleaning. - Shopping and Errands: Volunteer assistance with grocery shopping and other errands. - Social Activities: Assistance with attending local events and social gatherings.
