Artful Aging - COMPAS

Artful Aging Residencies: Structured programs led by COMPAS artists who have received additional training to work with older adults. Participants learn new creative skills and produce original work in art forms such as: - Dance - Music - Theater - Visual Art - Writing Each residency begins with an artist meet and greet session and ends with a community celebration showcasing participant accomplishments. The standard format includes: - One planning session with site staff prior to the start of the residency - One meet and greet session - Eight or more artist-led sessions, each lasting 90 minutes to 2 hours Sessions are typically held weekly but can be customized based on the needs of the hosting organization. Residencies can be structured as a camp or a series of classes. Artful Aging Samplers: Standalone or short series workshops led by COMPAS-certified Artful Aging artists. Each session lasts approximately two hours and features a project designed to be completed within that timeframe. Samplers are intended to: - Allow organizations to explore Artful Aging programming - Help communities determine which projects or artists are a good fit - Provide a low-commitment introduction to creative programming - Performances in 55+ Active Independent Living Communities or Older Adult Settings COMPAS artists offer performances that can be scheduled as standalone events or paired with meals and other activities. These performances are suited for various settings and group sizes. They are designed to: - Add energy to quiet days - Entertain large or small groups - Support special events or occasions

Orchestral Training - Minnesota Youth Symphonies

Through auditions, a select group of musicians is placed into one of four orchestras according to their abilities and talents: Strings, Philharmonic, Repertory, and Symphony. Orchestras have three sectionals each season, once each trimester, with members of the Minnesota Orchestra. Orchestras give three major concerts per season at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, as well as chamber ensemble, compositions, and solo competition performances throughout the season. Minnesota Youth Symphonies offers additional programs and services to the community: - Children's Concert Club: Offers children's service organizations reduced rate tickets to concerts - Music Education courses on Saturday mornings - free for Minnesota Youth Symphonies students - Music & Melody Makers brings preschool and elementary students and parents to Minnesota Youth Symphonies rehearsals to have a "hands-on" experience by trying out orchestral instruments and interact with musicians - String Studio program, in cooperation with the Folwell Performing Arts Magnet in Minneapolis, provides free school-day lessons on violin and viola to children in grades 4 - 6
