- Provides food and support services to partner food shelves and other hunger relief organizations - Offers a Bulk Purchase program, nutrition education and promotion, and educational opportunities regarding food shelf best practices The Food Group works to: - Act as a forum for sharing ideas and information for partner agencies - Provide representation on various committees and task forces concerning emergency food needs and related concerns - Set up standards and guidelines for partner agencies and related reporting systems - Transport free and purchased food to partner agencies

Community education and speakers bureau on such topics as affordable housing issues, women's issues, self sufficiency, service needs in suburban communities, advocacy, community development, homelessness prevention, welfare reform, racism/classism, and human rights.

Minnesota FoodShare partners with members of the anti-hunger community to address the challenges of food insecurity throughout the state of Minnesota. Minnesota FoodShare provides resources and funding to about 300 Minnesota food shelves across the state through an annual Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign as well as education and anti-hunger resources. Advocates on hunger issues at the local, state, and national levels encouraging legislators and other decision makers to lend a compassionate voice to public policy debates that impact Minnesota families living in poverty.

- Clearinghouse for donations to partner agencies - Collects donations of food, personal hygiene products, and money from churches, companies, schools, foundations, service clubs and the general public - Promotes and coordinates food/product drives and distributes donations to member shelves - Purchases food for partner agencies
