Interfaith Advocacy and Policy Research for Social Justice - Joint Religious Legislative Coalition

Advances social justice in Minnesota through interfaith advocacy, research, and public engagement on key legislative issues. Offers the following: - Conducts research and policy analysis on social justice topics - Develops a legislative agenda each year before the opening of the Minnesota Legislature - Hosts the annual Day on the Hill during the legislative session, briefing participants on social justice issues and facilitating visits with legislators - Mobilizes advocates through email alerts, published issue papers, and annual lobby events - Leads forums, workshops, and provides speakers on topics such as poverty, health care, housing, children's issues, criminal justice, environmental stewardship, and tax policy NOTE: Does NOT provide individual legal advice or advocacy support and does not have an attorney on staff

Civic Education - League of Women Voters of Minnesota

- Issue and Education Forums: Local Leagues around the state conduct Issue and Education forums to help their communities understand what's at stake - Studies and Publications: Conducts periodic studies about important issues with regard to voting, the election process, and the legislature - Youth Civic Engagement: Young people get an opportunity to engage with their government and learn about democracy alongside their peers

Programs and Activities - United Blind of Minnesota

Maintains and provides a voice messaging system available 24 hours/7 days a week providing legal, educational, recreational, cultural, and legislative programs to enable individuals living with vision loss or blind achieve personal goals, not otherwise attainable. Services offered: - Phone message lines include the United Blind Newsline, the Social Line, or the Miscellaneous Line. The United Blind Newsline inform callers about current activities, pertinent legislation, and other important matters. The Social Line provides more personal information regarding members and other items of interest, and the Miscellaneous Line is available for comments or suggestions. - Promotion of legislation for the blind - Quarterly meetings usually held on the first or second Saturday in January, March, May, and October. Meetings and other activities are held at various metro locations. - Recruitment of volunteers to read mail for blind persons in their homes ?- Social, educational, cultural, and recreational programs

Youth Initiatives, Trainings, and Support Programs - Youthprise

A nonprofit organization promoting youth initiative programs, trainings, and support to youth orgnizations. Services provided: - Grant opportunities to local organizations and partners who share youth-focused priorities - Legislative and advocacy for youth such as the MinneKIDS Act, 529 college savings programs, and more - Online virtual series and trainings bringing attention to issues, policy, education, health, economic opportunity, and other topics of interest that impact young individuals - Youth Action Board (YAB): A governance committee that consists of young adults to lead initiatives, obtain professional development, work in a coalition, and bridge the gap between youth-serving organizations and system leaders

Community Involvement Group - Citizens League

Empowers people to engage in civic life and public policy, to make Minnesota a better place to live and work. Provides civic engagement and public policy solutions in the areas of aging, caregiving, education, governance, workforce, and public safety. Services provided: - Capital Pathways Program: Aims to build a representative democracy through paid policy internships and professional development for college students who identify as Black, Indigenous, or people of color. Provides a paid internship to college students within government, nonprofit, corporate, law, and lobbying organizations that work at or around the State Capitol during the legislation session. - Policy projects that bring individuals with varying viewpoints and perspectives to develop policy solutions to common problems, elevating lived experiences and local expertise - Public events on public policy issues in accessible spaces that highlight community leaders inspiring civic engagement. Current events include the Mind Opener series, partner series such as Interconnected: Rural-Urban Conversations, and the annual Civic Celebration.
