An independent state agency that works to preserve individual rights for all who are living in a long-term care community. Serves individuals needing or receiving long-term care through complaint investigation, advocacy, and education. Services provided:

• Advocates for reform through state and federal legislation and the health care and social services system to better meet consumer needs

• Investigates complaints and works to resolve disputes between consumers and nursing homes, boarding care homes, adult foster care, housing with services/assisted living residences, home care agencies, hospitals and government agencies through mediation, negotiation, education or referral to appropriate state or federal enforcement agencies or legal services

• Provides information and education about consumers' rights, laws and regulations, and the financing of health care and long-term care services through written materials, individual consultation, or public speaking

Offers a free service where an allergist will answer questions about asthma and allergies. Provides only general advice about managing asthma or allergies, medicines, and treatments. Does not answer questions about specific consumer products. NOTE: The information provided is not a substitute for medical advice from a doctor. Always talk with a doctor before changing an asthma or allergy management plan.

Provides screenings for adults for a variety of conditions, including screenings of blood glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure checks. Additional health services include health assessments, presentations on health topics, and other community services.

The program helps youth support themselves, their families, and strengthen the community's future. These academies expose students to diverse career tracks, including:

Provides community data, information and education in:

• Alcohol, tobacco and other drug use prevention

• Healthy eating

Information and referral on life's issues and legal needs Library for members:

• Topics of Men's issues: Relationships, health, psychological, and sexuality

• Book loan and reference/information

Family Law Clinics targeted to the needs of men and women regarding:

• Divorce or dealing with other family law issues

• Clinic held 7 pm - 9 pm 1st Wednesday of each month

Issue presentations are offered each Wednesday on:

• Parenting

• Anger

• Health and addiction

• Job satisfaction

• Sexuality: relationships, sexual orientation and masculinity

• Spirituality

Men Talk newsletter and on-line Resource Directory on Website 12 session anger management class: "Men Helping Men With Anger"

• For men who desire to improve their relationships at home and at work

• All anger management classes hybrid, meaning the participants may attend in person or online. In person is recommended

• Alumni groups for men who have completed the class

12 Session Moving Toward Empowerment class

• For men who have successfully completed the Men Helping Men With Anger class and want to deepen their learning. All classes are hybrid, meaning participants may attend in person or online.

• Annual public glaucoma screenings

• Referrals to eye doctors statewide

• Medical eye care information via website

• Democracy and Voting Rights: Efforts to end voting restrictions for Minnesotans on probation or parole

• Elections: Efforts to advance progressive values in politics

• Health: Efforts toward a people-focused healthcare system

• Work and Wealth: Efforts toward fair wages and tax reform
