The AmeriCorpsSeniors-Arrowhead Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) engages older adults ages 55 and older in volunteer services to meet community needs and to provide an experience that enriches their lives. Arrowhead Volunteers promotes volunteering by assisting people of all ages, including families, to find volunteer opportunities in their communities. It also provides education and information, networking meetings, and sponsors volunteer events like the annual Volunteer Fair, Purple Ribbon Recognition, and Hall of Fame Volunteer Awards. Volunteers serve Cook, Lake, and Saint Louis counties, including the City of Duluth, through nonprofit organizations and health care facilities, including schools, libraries, hospitals, tourist attractions, nursing homes, animal shelters, food shelves, and a variety of other community programs. Volunteer opportunities involve helping children to read, delivering Meals on Wheels, preserving the natural environment, providing tourist information, friendly visiting, and more. Each volunteer is asked to give 48 or more service hours during the year.

  • Assertive Community Treatment Teams: Provides an intensive, comprehensive, non-residential, rehabilitative mental health service team model. Services include:
  • Assisting in locating and maintaining safe and affordable housing with an emphasis on the individual's choice and independent community housing

  • Behavioral Health Home: Provides a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centered services designed to support the individual in coordinating care and services while reaching his or her health and wellness goals. Program focus on integration of primary care, mental health services, and social services and supports for adults diagnosed with mental illness.
  • Community Support Program: Helps individuals manage their mental health symptoms, participate in their community, learn medication management and develop daily living skills.
  • Intensive Residential Treatment Services: Provides a residential setting to individuals in need of a more restrictive setting and at risk of significant functional deterioration if they do not receive these services. Program offers: 24 hour coverage in the delivery of rehabilitative services, staff available to safely supervise and direct activities, and capacity to promptly and appropriately respond to emergent needs and make adjustments to assure the health and safety of the individual.
  • Partial Hospitalization: Provides a time limited structured program of multiple and intensive psychotherapy and other therapeutic services in an outpatient hospital facility. The goal of partial hospitalization is to resolve or stabilize an acute episode of mental illness.
  • Rule 79 Case Management: Advocate for the individual to ensure that the individual is able to live their life as independently as possible. Case management includes:
  • Providing a Functional Assessment (FA)
  • Helping develop an Individual Consumer Support Plan (ICSP) that addresses information regarding the individual's strengths and needs
  • Reviewing assessments with therapists, psychiatrists and the individual about what they feel their needs are and with what they would like assistance with
  • Makes referrals to providers who assist the individual with their needs

  • Substance Use Counseling and Group Sessions: Offers individual and group sessions for outpatient treatment and aftercare programs. Clients meet with clinicians to develop treatment goals and monitor progress. The program utilizes culturally specific and evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and recovery management skills.

Types of crises the funds may help with include accidents, change of circumstance, housing crisis, medical/dental issue, natural disaster, or victims of crime/violence. In Home Care Service is a licensed service that provides an individualized assistance plan to help maintain and support healthy independent aging in the home and community. Aging individuals receive assistance in their home from a trained staff with a daily personal plan which can include household maintenance (laundry/cleaning), personal cares, and/or home management (phone calls, organizing, reading mail, arranging appointments), and socialization.

Situational Assessment - a short-term work experience designed to help individuals explore their vocational aptitudes and determine the types of support services that will be needed in the workplace.
  • Centered-based employment - Paid work at the main facility. Offers various jobs including donation processing, janitorial services, stocking, retail sales, office work, and shipping. Works with individuals in identifying a job within the facility that is well-matched to their skills and interests
  • Community based employment - Provides paid work in the community to individuals that need ongoing support to maintain their employment. These jobs are often on crews and may include janitorial, lawn-work, and snow removal
  • Supported employment - Provides employment with local community employers. Workers who are hired for community jobs continue to receive training and support from Goodwill Vocational Services team members, and are paid by the hiring company. Area employers may include Super One Foods, Olive Garden, Bernick's Pepsi, Minnesota Power, Grandma's Restaurant, TJ Maxx, Aerostich, Sain. Lukes, Duluth Grill, and WalMart.
