Emergency General Assistance - EGA - Ramsey County Financial Assistance Services Department

- Cash-grant program for adults with low incomes experiencing a household emergency. Adults can receive assistance once every 18 months. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Adults must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. - Emergency General Assistance (EGA) provides financial assistance such as security deposit or past due rent/mortgage. Assists with utility payments, when there is a threat of disconnection. Utilities include electricity, heat, and water. - Emergency General Assistance helps adults without children. Those who qualify for Emergency General Assistance can receive up to two months' payment for their share of rent/mortgage or utilities, or a combined payment of up to $1500.

The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. - Applicant's name must be on the lease or utility bill - Applicant(s) must be able to show that their rent and utility costs are affordable - Emergency assistance is paid directly to the vendor - Payments, if approved, in combination with other available resources, must be able to resolve the crisis, not just delay it - Does not provide financial assistance for damage deposits in excess of two month's rent, utility deposits or reconnection charges, legal fees and court costs, garage rental, or moving expenses

Emergency Assistance - EA - Nobles County Community Services

Cash-grant program for families with low incomes experiencing household emergencies. Families can receive assistance once every 12 months. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Families must use their own money first. Families must not have used more than 50% of their net income and liquid assets for purposes other than basic needs during the 60 days before the application. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. Funds may help with: - Rent, rental deposit, and late mortgage payment assistance. If the immediate crisis includes past due rent/mortgage, no more than two months of previous unpaid housing costs are permitted. Aid for rental deposits is limited to an amount equal to one month's rent. - Electricity, water, sewer, garbage, fuel oil, or natural gas utilities. Utility crisis aid can only be provided from the current to the past two months and does not include reconnection fees. Crisis aid for utility deposits and fuel oil crisis funds are limited. - Coordination with other local resources that may help meet the crisis need, either fully or in part is mandatory (i.e. Southwest Minnesota Opportunity Council, Heat Share, Salvation Army, etc.). Denial of eligibility from such resources or verification that funds are not available to assist with the crisis is required.

The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. Allowable Expenses: - Housing: Rent and mortgage. Verification of payment overdue or threat of eviction notice required. Assistance for a rental unit damage deposit will not be provided if the family has already moved into the unit. - Utilities: Verification of pending utility shut-off required Amount of assistance provided is based on household size. Only vendor or protective payee payments will be issued.

Basic Needs and Spiritual Assistance - Common Cup Ministry

Through a voucher system administered by on-call volunteers from member churches, funds are set up to help those who fall in between the cracks of other assistance. Vouchers are provided for electric service, gas money, gas service, heating fuel, rental deposit assistance, rent payment assistance, and water service assistance. Vouchers do not cover the amount of a total client's bill, the client must pay some of the bill on their own. Volunteers provide spiritual ministry as well as the ministry of meeting the person's basic needs for emergency food and shelter. Offers free laundry services once a month through Laundry of Love program

The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Applicant must have spent 50% of net income over the past 60 days on basic needs. Families must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. Emergency assistance provides short-term, one-time assistance for households in a financial crisis because of an eviction, utility disconnection, or other eligible emergency. Types of assistance: - Shelter, including rent and/or damage deposits or mortgage payments - Utility costs when an otherwise eligible family unit has had a termination or is threatened with termination of municipal water and sewer services, electric, gas, or other heating fuel, including lack of wood when it is the heating source, or refuse removal services. - Employment-related expenses, including but not limited to car expenses and child care expenses if the Emergency Assistance payment would enable the family member to continue working or continue to search for employment

Emergency Housing Services - Tri-Valley Opportunity Council

Provides short-term help for low-income households who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness. Direct financial assistance may include foreclosure payments, rent payments, rent subsidies, security deposits, first month's rent, utility payments, or other assistance to prevent eviction. Minimal assistance is also available for food, child care, transportation, and work clothing and supplies. The purpose of these programs is to stabilize families in their home or re-house families that are homeless.
