Northern Area Triage Team - Saint Louis County Public Health and Human Services

Provides triage services for situations as needed and reviews county case information. Services include: - Assistance with housing and basic needs - Community Collaborative Fund: Initial assessment for households at risk of homelessness. Individuals must have been denied by the Saint Louis County EGA or EA program, or have already used EGA/EA within the last 18 months. ESG (Emergency Solutions Grant) funds are determined to be used for rent, rental deposit, mortgage, or utilities. NOTE: There is currently no funding at this time. - Forms and certificate assistance for county programs such as SNAP, WIC, EGA/EA, GA, child care assistance, MFIP, Minnesota Supplemental Aid, or Housing Support. Also, follow up with issues regarding MNsure applications. - Referrals to community services, mental health, and chemical dependency services outside of Saint Louis County

- Cash-grant program for families with low incomes experiencing household emergencies that are short-term, non-recurring shelter and utility needs, to assist in retaining secure and affordable housing - Families can receive assistance once every 12 months - Applicant's name must be on the lease or utility bill - Applicant(s) must be able to show that their rent and utility costs are affordable - Emergency assistance is paid directly to the vendor - Payments, if approved, in combination with other available resources, must be able to resolve the crisis, not just delay it - Does not provide financial assistance for damage deposits in excess of two month's rent, utility deposits or reconnection charges, legal fees and court costs, garage rental, or moving expenses

Those who qualify for Emergency General Assistance can receive up to two months' payment for their share of rent/mortgage or utilities, or a combined payment of up to $1500.

Verification of payment overdue or threat of eviction notice required. Assistance for a rental unit damage deposit will not be provided if the family has already moved into the unit. - Utilities: Verification of pending utility shut-off required Amount of assistance provided is based on household size. Only vendor or protective payee payments will be issued.

Emergency General Assistance meets the emergency needs of eligible individuals who are in an emergency and who are residents of the state. EGA can offer emergency help with the following: - Damage or rental deposits on a case-by-case basis - Home repairs that make the house livable or clean up expenses for an apartment or home to make it livable - Moving expenses. May provide assistance to older adults or individuals living with a disability with moving fees associated with moving companies that pick up belongings and relocate the resident to a new residence. - Other additional food support for people who have special dietary needs - Mortgage assistance for households who are facing foreclosure - Property tax help for past due taxes - Transportation to relocate on a case-by-base basis for bus tickets only - Utility bills at risk of shut off such as electric, heating, or water bills. Rent must be current and up-to-date in order to receive assistance for utility help. NOTE: EGA does not help with rent assistance. Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing - Semcac Community Action Agency - Owatonna

Intake process for programs serving individuals and families who are in search of housing programs or are in need of financial assistance for housing. Family Homeless Prevention and Assistance Program This program helps prevent homelessness by providing one-time assistance with a rent or mortgage payment for households that need a short-term "bridge" until their financial situation is expected to stabilize. Case management and follow-up services provided. Rapid Rehousing Program This program provides information, referral, advocacy, and first month's rent and/or security deposit assistance to homeless persons. Transitional Housing Program This program provides information, referral, advocacy, and first month's rent and/or security deposit assistance to doubled up or homeless households moving into a housing unit. Ongoing rent subsidy may be provided until the household is able to sustain their rental housing.

Basic Needs and Spiritual Assistance - Common Cup Ministry

Through a voucher system administered by on-call volunteers from member churches, funds are set up to help those who fall in between the cracks of other assistance. Vouchers are provided for electric service, gas money, gas service, heating fuel, rental deposit assistance, rent payment assistance, and water service assistance. Vouchers do not cover the amount of a total client's bill, the client must pay some of the bill on their own. Volunteers provide spiritual ministry as well as the ministry of meeting the person's basic needs for emergency food and shelter. Offers free laundry services once a month through Laundry of Love program
