Owns and manages housing units throughout the City of Saint Paul. Apartments are located in hi-rise buildings, townhouse developments, duplex, and single-family units. Provides a clean, safe, and affordable living environment for eligible low income individuals and families; families pay 30% of their adjusted monthly income for rent and utilities. Waiting list is centralized; when an applicant reached the top of the list and PHA verifies their eligibility, they are offered the next available unit for their household size. - Bridges for Long-Term Homeless Households: Provides temporary housing for individuals and families who meet the definition of long-term homeless and has a serious and persistent mental illness with a referral from Washington County Community Services - Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8): Vouchers assist the tenant in renting a unit from a private landlord. Unit must be affordable and rent must be reasonable for the area. This type of assistance is transferable. It is assigned to the tenant and moves with the tenant so long as the tenant remains income eligible and has not violated any program rules - Public Housing: Operate a 40-unit, one bedroom, apartment complex, Whispering Pines in Forest Lake. Qualifying individuals pay up to 30% of their adjusted monthly income for rent. This type of assistance is not transferable. If the participant moves, the participant loses their assistance. Preference for elderly individuals ages 55-61 or person with disability
