Work with clients who are interested in obtaining Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits by assisting with the application process. Administers the SNAP program at four local farmers' markets in Cook, Hibbing, Tower, and Virginia. Provides a variety of services such as: - Arrowhead Grown: A website and facebook page created to promote farmers across the region. It includes dates, times, locations, and details of each farmer's market in northeast Minnesota. The site also includes helpful information for customers using SNAP-EBT, Farmer's Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) vouchers, and Power of Produce (POP) tokens. - Community Food Forest: A large perennial garden made up of berry bushes, grapevines, and fruit trees. It continues to grow each year. Community members are encouraged to participate in maintaining the food forest, and the site is accessible to anyone to harvest. - Farmers Markets: Families utilizing SNAP-EBT can shop at Virginia Market Square, Cook Area Farmers Market, Hibbing Farmers Market, and Tower Farmers Market, and receive a match in dollars. - Food Shelves: Funds food shelves for agencies across Cook, Lake, and Saint Louis County. Provide emergency and short-term food assistance to income-eligible individuals and families who have run out of options to alleviate hunger. - Little Free Pantries: There are three free food pantries located in Virginia at AEOA, Hope Presbyterian Church, Our Saviors Church, and at the Hoyt Lakes Public Library. AEOA maintains the pantry located outside of the AEOA office. - Northeast Minnesota Food Access Guide: Manages the Northeast Minnesota Food Access Guide which lists information on local food shelf hours, locations, grocery financial assistance programs, free meals, and food prep resources.

Housing Specialists can assist the youth with practical solutions, identify sources, alternatives, and mediate conflict resolution between friends or family. The initial access point to be connected with a Housing Specialist is short-term with a 30-day timeframe. After 30 days initial contact, households with no other pathways identified will be connected to a Housing Assessor and placed on the Housing Registry. - Provides computers for homework and job searches, a game room, kitchen, lockers, showers, storage areas, and a washer and dryer - Staff help youth get help with employment and housing searches, connect to resources, and receive basic need items (clean clothes, food, sleeping bags, and toiletries)

Transportation: Bus and gas cards are available for individuals who are experiencing homelessness and in a Coordinated Entry program or for individuals who are starting a job but haven't received their first paycheck yet. HeatShare, seasonal services, Family Camp, back to school program, seasonal programs Coordinated Entry assessments for adult families and singles 24 and older in Anoka County Family Homeless Prevention and Assistance Program (FHPAP): Funds are only available to individuals and families facing an eviction. Funding varies month to month and may not be available. NOTE: One phone line is set aside for this program. It stays open until there are more than 80 requests per week. Then it is closes until staff are caught up on intakes. When the intakes are caught up, the line is opened again. Individuals should try the phone number a few times throughout the week. If someone asks, let them know to keep checking Line 5 - it will open again soon. Rapid Rehousing: Provides services for people experiencing homelessness that have found housing. Street Outreach: Provides outreach services such as food and transportation for people experiencing homelessness.

Staff provide an immediate assessment of emergency needs and offer resources to help deal with homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic abuse, unemployment, gambling addictions, mental health problems, and help with public assistance. Additional services offered at the center include: - 7 bus passes for the general public daily; usually gone by 9:10 am. Can be accessed twice per month and an intake form must be filled out. - Free telephone line, mailboxes for people who are homeless, hygiene items, and household goods - Safe Bay is located in the parking lot and offers individuals and families living in cars and vans a place to rest without fear of crime, harassment, or being moved along by law enforcement or private security guards. Individuals and families can access showers, breakfast and housing navigation services provided by Daminao Center. - Work related transportation: - Gas vouchers: MUST have valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and proof of employment. Can only be accessed once per year. - Bus pass: MUST have ID and proof of employment. The value of a bus pass is $25 and can only be accessed once per year.
