Child Advocacy Center - First Witness Child Advocacy Center
Child-friendly forensic center investigates child abuse and coordinates needed services, including:
- Advocacy: Provides initial and ongoing advocacy to families as they move through the process of a child abuse allegation; builds connections with families to better understand their circumstances and self-identified needs; helps families to interpret the information they receive, ensure their rights and their ability to make informed decisions and gain skills in advocating for themselves and their children; provides emotional support
- Forensic interviewing: Provides a neutral, information-gathering child-centered interview
- Multidisciplinary team facilitation: Includes professionals from law enforcement, social services, prosecution, public defense, medical and mental health, victim support services, the child advocacy center (forensic interviews and advocacy), Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), and cultural representatives collaborate from the initial report through lasting supportive services for the youth and families
- Medical exams: Collaborates with St. Luke's Hospital and Essentia Health to provide forensic medical evaluations in reported cases of child abuse; provides an overall assessment of a child and/or adolescent's health and safety, recommends appropriate follow-up and treatment, documents additional statements and/or physical evidence in circumstances of sexual or physical abuse, and provides reassurance to a child and/or adolescent and their caregiver about their body and health
- Mental health: Connects children and families with trauma-informed care and avoid barriers to accessing mental health services; arrangementswith the Human Development Center and Paradigm Therapy Services to providespecialized trauma-focused mental health services unique to the needs ofchildren and their non-offending caregivers

Family Health Services - Waseca County Public Health Services
Car Seat Program: Medica and UCare have a car seat program for children up to 8 years of age. Education and installation of the car seat are offered to any resident of Becker County.
Child and Teen Checkups (C&TC): Child and Teen Checkups are offered to any Waseca County resident under the age of 21. Checkups include: hearing and vision screening, developmental screening, physical exam, lead screening, immunizations, and referrals to other health care providers as necessary.
Follow Along Program: Consists of a series of developmental questionnaires the parent completes and returns to Waseca County Community Health. The questionnaire is scored and a letter is sent to the parent with the results. This program is free to all children in Waseca County under the age of 36 months.
Home Visiting Program: Home visits are offered to pregnant women, infants, and children to provide ongoing support.

- Partners with the Minnesota Department of Human Services - Refugee Assistance Program to provide assistance developing job skills and finding employment

- Grant-funded through UCare to provide education regarding diabetes, child and teen check-ups, and mental health
- Partners with Minnesota Care Counseling to provide linguistically appropriate trauma counseling
- Works with the Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities to provide leadership training to people with disabilities in the Somali and Latinx communities
- Works with the Minnesota Department of Health to assess Somali communities throughout southern Minnesota for suicide prevention readiness and come up with plans to increase prevention measures
Resettlement
- Assistance with health care access, legal protection, education, training for income generation skills, and other services
- Assists new arrivals with documentation paperwork and in navigating the American system
- English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are taught at Faribault site through partnership with Faribault Adult Basic Education
- Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services assists with legal issues and documentation
- Works with Rice County Social Services to connect transportation and childcare resources, and provide job search assistance
