La Crescent Animal Rescue provides shelter and care for stray and homeless dogs and cats in the La Crescent area. Services include: rescue and acceptance of stray domestic cats and dogs in the city of La Crescent, placement of stray or abandoned cats and dogs into good homes, and providing a safe and clean environment for animals waiting to be adopted. Shelter diversion, emergency financial assistance for veterinary care (pays for 50% of the service with a $1,000 maximum, visit website for additional details), and pet food (2-week supply of food provided per pet per family once within a calendar month) are provided. - Low-kill organization. Does not euthanize based on supply and demand of pet overpopulation. Works with participating vets and only euthanizes animals deemed un-adoptable due to severe health issues or un-remediable behavior problems, such as aggression and biting.
