Energy Assistance Program - EAP - Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County (CAP-HC)

The Energy Assistance Program helps pay heat and electricity costs. Payments for energy bills are sent directly to the household's energy company or fuel provider for propane, fuel oil, or wood. Financial assistance varies depending on household income and fuel costs. The Energy Assistance Program provides additional grants for eligible households who need help with: - Getting reconnected to heat and power after disconnections - Paying for emergency file deliveries of propane, heating oil, or biofuel - Preventing disconnection NOTE: The deadline to apply for this program is the end of May. Applications for the following heating season will be accepted starting around September.

Funeral Assistance Program - Winona County Health and Human Services - Human Service Division

The Funeral Assistance Program provides burials (cemetery expenses, caskets, vaults, and professional services from mortuaries) for individuals meeting financial and other criteria. Allowable funeral and cemetery costs vary, depending on the age of the deceased.

Volunteer Income Tax Preparation - Bemidji Senior Center

Do you struggle with the complex and often convoluted language of tax returns? Do you want to understand how to enhance your tax time experience? Available for seniors over 55 and those with low to moderate income, this service allows participants to maximize the benefits of both income tax returns and property taxes. ? AARP Volunteer Tax Preparers assist income tax returns from February to April 15th on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Additionally, they go over property taxes or renter's rebates from June through August on the second Monday of each month from 9:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., no appointment is needed. - Under both programs Part B premiums are put back into the monthly Social Security check, making participants' monthly income increase. - The QMB program will pay the Medicare co-payments and deductibles. For example, if enrolled in the QMB program, the participant does not have to pay the annual part B deductible, the 20% part B co-payment, or the part A hospital deductible. - The participant pays for Medicare services that aren't covered, such as routine physicals and outpatient prescription drugs.

Emergency General Assistance - EGA - Lake of the Woods County Department of Social Services

Cash-grant program for adults with low incomes experiencing a household emergency. Adults can receive assistance once every 12 months. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Adults must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. EGA can offer emergency help with moving expenses, furnishings, and appliances, home repairs, to prevent foreclosure, employment-related expenses, shelter, and utility bills.

Service Limited Medicare Beneficiary - SLMB - Cass County Health, Human and Veterans Services

This is a Medicaid program for beneficiaries who need help in paying for Medicare services. The beneficiary must have Medicare Part A and limited income and resources. For those who qualify, the Medicaid program pays Medicare Part B premiums. Eligibility begins the month of application. Also, if eligible, retroactive coverage for up to three months prior to the month of application. Note: There can be a lag time before SSA is able to stop taking the premiums out of the recipient's benefit check but the recipient will be reimbursed by SSA for all months eligible for SLMB and/or QMB. The reverse is true when these programs terminate: recipients should be told to put aside premium costs from first month of termination on.
