Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA) is a program providing up to eight months of Medical Assistance (MA) to refugees. To qualify for RMA, refugees must:

• Be ineligible for MA
• Meet income limits
• Meet asset limits
• Have one of the following immigration statuses:
• Refugee, asylee, Cuban and Haitian entrant, Amerasian, trafficking victim, Iraqi, and Afghan special immigrants.
• Dependent children of people with these statuses may be eligible for RMA.
• Children with a non-refugee parent in the household are not eligible for RMA.

• Advocacy, information and referral, crisis/emergency services, care management for adults/families regarding issues including immigration, refugee, and new citizens issues

Teaches useful information, skills, tools, and problem-solving related to caregiving. The Caregiver Consultant will work with the caregiver and family to create a personalized caregiving plan. Ongoing support and coaching is offered to help the caregiver meet their needs.

Helps individuals and families with low incomes (including temporary low incomes) get the food they need for nutritious and well-balanced meals. Provides extra support to help stretch a household's food budget - it is not meant to cover all the groceries a family needs. Monthly benefits are loaded on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which looks and works like a debit card. The amount of benefits received is based on income, expenses, and number of people in the household. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) program provides free employment and education training and support for people getting SNAP benefits. SNAP E&T participants gain support, skills, training, or experience to reach their goals. Many organizations, including technical and community colleges, community-based organizations, county agencies, tribes, and CareerForce Centers provide SNAP E&T programs and services. Programs can include career planning, job search, training for in-demand jobs, student support, financial support, and continued support once a participant has a job.

Provides physical, occupational, and speech therapies with a focus on functional needs and overall wellness. Occupational Therapy: deals with issues of range of motion and strength related to the upper extremities, activities of daily living, feeding, cognition, and pain related to the neck, upper back, arms, and wheelchair positioning. Physical Therapy: deals with issues of range of motion, strength, transfer training, balance, gaid, and pain issues related to lower extremities and back. Speech Therapy: deals with issues of communication, swallowing, language and higher cognitive function.

In addition, the Hastings Civil Department handles all major civil lawsuits including cases over $50,000. Cash-grant program for families with low incomes experiencing household emergencies. Families can receive assistance once every 12 months. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Families must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. The types of assistance the program may help with are for rent assistance, rent deposit, electric, gas, heating fuel, water, burial assistance, or other emergency need based on available funding.

Minnesota's Medicaid program for people with low income. Most people who have MA receive health care through health plans. Members who do not receive health care through a health plan receive care on a fee-for-service basis, with providers billing the state directly for services they provide. MA pays for a variety of services like doctor visits, prescriptions, and hospital stays. Some services and prescriptions may require prior approval. MA pays for medical bills going back three months from the month the application is received. NOTE: People with disabilities who work, even if they're over the income or asset limits of MA, may still qualify for a program called Medical Assistance for Employed Persons with Disabilities - MA-EPD.

Helps pay heat and electricity costs. Payments for energy bills are sent directly to the household's energy company or fuel provider for propane, fuel oil, or wood. Financial assistance varies depending on household income and fuel costs. The Energy Assistance Program provides additional grants for eligible households who need help with:

• Crisis Program and Reach Out for Warmth: Households that are eligible for Energy Assistance and have used all their original grants may request assistance for this program

• Energy Related Repair Program: A program for homeowners who are eligible for the Energy Assistance Program that addresses safety or no-heat problems due to malfunctioning or non-functioning heating systems

Available for seniors over 55 and those with low to moderate income, this service allows participants to maximize the benefits of both income tax returns and property taxes. ? AARP Volunteer Tax Preparers assist income tax returns from February to April 15th on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Additionally, they go over property taxes or renter's rebates from June through August on the second Monday of each month from 9:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., no appointment is needed.
