Emergency General Assistance meets the emergency needs of eligible individuals who are in an emergency and who are residents of the state. Funding availability may vary. EGA can offer emergency help with the following:
  • Damage or rental deposits on a case-by-case basis
  • Home repairs that make the house livable or clean up expenses for an apartment or home to make it livable
  • Moving expenses. May provide assistance to older adults or individuals living with a disability with moving fees associated with moving companies that pick up belongings and relocate the resident to a new residence.
  • Other additional food support for people who have special dietary needs
  • Property tax help for past due taxes
  • Transportation to relocate on a case-by-base basis for bus tickets only
  • Utility bills at risk of shut off such as electric, heating, or water bills. Rent must be current and up-to-date in order to receive assistance for utility help.
NOTE: EGA does not help with rent assistance. Households who need rent assistance must apply through the Tenant Resource Connection Rent Help Hennepin application.

Services can be basic community-based therapy services, such as in a home or school. They can also be more structured and focused intensive site-based services, such as day treatment. For families with complex needs and multiple providers, services must be coordinated with other providers or agencies working together in order to provide comprehensive continuity of care. Services may include:
  • Behavior skills in-home program: One hour session to help children learn specific skills to reduce symptoms of their mental health diagnosis
  • Children's day treatment: Using trauma-focused CBT and DBT-inspired programming
  • Crisis plan development: For the child and family
  • Skills training: Individual, family, and group to learn social, coping, communication, and/or daily life skills
  • Therapy: Individual, family, and/or group psychotherapy
Provides counseling for children and youth for 2 - 5 hours per week at the clinic, home, school, or community setting focusing on:
  • Adjusting to transitions

Services may be a combination of skills training, psychotherapy, and crisis assistance. If appropriate, children and teens may be referred to participate in psychotherapy groups as a part of treatment. Groups are comprehensive, trauma-informed, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-inspired for the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health disorders.

  • Technology used to provide skills training such as Applied Behavior Analysis. This is done in the community, in the child's home, or an office setting. Trained staff work with children with autism to develop a variety of skills in a structured format, using shape and reinforcement strategies.
  • Treatment plan using a skills deficit model and comprehensive client-centered approach. Work with inter-agency teams at all levels to design functional approaches to the treatment plan.

  • When an Individualized Education Program (IEP) identifies a need for additional educational support, the academic resource room provides enhanced guidance to meet diverse learning needs. The school is operated by the Onamia Public School System of Minnesota, and graduation and credit requirements are governed by the local school district.
Programs for Males: Serves youth ages 10 to 18, with age ranges varying by program. These programs provide developmentally appropriate treatment, education, and support designed to promote healing, accountability, and long-term success. School and Vocational Training: Provides support to youth in developing academic achievement and practical life skills. Education and hands-on learning opportunities prepare youth for future employment and independence. Sexually Problematic Behaviors Program: Specializes in treating youth who demonstrate sexually problematic behaviors. Treatment is grounded in current research and national standards and focuses on the whole child rather than a single behavior. The program is committed to breaking cycles of sexual harm and supporting healing, accountability, and healthy development. Vocational Opportunities: Provides youth with hands-on experiences to build job readiness and life skills. Youth participate in structured activities that promote responsibility, teamwork, and community engagement, including:

Provides extra support to help stretch a household's food budget - it is not meant to cover all the groceries a family needs. Monthly benefits are loaded on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which looks and works like a debit card. The card can be used to buy groceries at authorized stores, farmers markets, and online retailers. Learn more about where to shop and what can be bought. The amount of benefits received is based on income, expenses, and number of people in the household. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) program provides free employment and education training and support for people getting snap benefits. SNAP E&T participants gain support, skills, training, or experience to reach their goals. Many organizations, including technical and community colleges, community-based organizations, county agencies, tribes, and CareerForce Centers provide SNAP E&T programs and services. Programs can include career planning, job search, training for in-demand jobs, student support, financial support, and continued support once a participant has a job.
