Minnesota's Medicaid program for people with low income. Most people who have MA receive health care through health plans. Members who do not receive health care through a health plan receive care on a fee-for-service basis, with providers billing the state directly for services they provide.MA pays for a variety of services like doctor visits, prescriptions, and hospital stays. Some services and prescriptions may require prior approval. MA pays for medical bills going back three months from the month the application is received.NOTE: People with disabilities who work, even if they're over the income or asset limits of MA, may still qualify for a program called Medical Assistance for Employed Persons with Disabilities - MA-EPD.

A Needs Assessment is not a full psychiatric evaluation, but rather a comprehensive assessment which determines appropriate mental health services to address the individual's needs: outpatient clinic services, intensive outpatient programs, partial hospitalization, inpatient hospital programs, residential treatment, or substance abuse treatment.

Staff provide an immediate assessment of emergency needs and offer resources to help deal with homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic abuse, unemployment, gambling addictions, mental health problems, and help with public assistance.Additional services offered at the center include:- 7 bus passes for the general public daily; usually gone by 9:10 am. Can be accessed twice per month and an intake form must be filled out.- Free telephone line, mailboxes for people who are homeless, hygiene items, and household goods- Safe Bay is located in the parking lot and offers individuals and families living in cars and vans a place to rest without fear of crime, harassment, or being moved along by law enforcement or private security guards. Individuals and families can access showers, breakfast and housing navigation services provided by Daminao Center.- Work related transportation: Gas vouchers: MUST have valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and proof of employment. Can only be accessed once per year. Bus pass: MUST have ID and proof of employment. The value of a bus pass is $25 and can only be accessed once per year.

The AmeriCorpsSeniors-Arrowhead Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) engages older adults ages 55 and older in volunteer services to meet community needs and to provide an experience that enriches their lives. Arrowhead Volunteers promotes volunteering by assisting people of all ages, including families, to find volunteer opportunities in their communities. It also provides education and information, networking meetings, and sponsors volunteer events like the annual Volunteer Fair, Purple Ribbon Recognition, and Hall of Fame Volunteer Awards. Volunteers serve Cook, Lake, and Saint Louis counties, including the City of Duluth, through nonprofit organizations and health care facilities, including schools, libraries, hospitals, tourist attractions, nursing homes, animal shelters, food shelves, and a variety of other community programs. Volunteer opportunities involve helping children to read, delivering Meals on Wheels, preserving the natural environment, providing tourist information, friendly visiting, and more. Each volunteer is asked to give 48 or more service hours during the year.

Helps workers who lost their jobs through no fault of their own find a new career. Staff work with the unemployed worker to re-enter the workforce in a stable job within a high-demand occupation. Services offered include career and skills assessments and personalized job search assistance. If an individual is considering training, they may receive help with tuition, other training-related expenses, and support services.

Provides early Head Start and Head Start programs. Services provided:- A comprehensive child and family development program for pregnant women and families with children from birth to age 3. Services include weekly home visits by an Early Head Start educator, year-round toddler classrooms in some locations, and access to health, nutrition, and family support services. Families also participate in bi-weekly socialization events that provide opportunities for networking and peer support. Parents are encouraged to be actively involved through volunteering and participation in the Head Start Policy Council.- Provides early learning and care to help young children reach their full potential. Enrolled children receive meals and snacks, along with support from medical, dental, and nutrition services. Offers center-based classes for four days per week in a licensed classroom setting, operating September through May.
