Provides nutrition resources to maintain and improve the health and wellness of seniors. This program includes services such as:
  • Nutritional Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS): Adults aged 60 and older who have more mobility and are comfortable with some cooking. NAPS is a boxed program (meaning food is prescribed and prepackaged). Participants can also shop at the Food Shelf while waiting for their NAPS box.
  • Silver Selects: Adults 60 and older who have difficulty shopping and cooking but are able to come to CEAP once or twice each month. Each participant can receive 28 frozen meals per month and can either pick up all 28 at one time or 14 meals twice each month. Participants can also shop at the Food Shelf when picking up their frozen meals.

Provides cash assistance to help adults receiving Supplemental Security Income - SSI pay for their basic needs. Adults who are blind, have a disability, or are age 65 and older but don't qualify for SSI because of their income may still be eligible for MSA if they meet income requirements. The basic monthly MSA grant is calculated using either the maximum SSI amount (Federal Benefit Rate) for the adult or their countable income (if they do not receive SSI), and the MSA standard set by state law. Special Needs Grant MSA also may provide special payments for adults who need:
  • Certain home repairs
  • Certain household furniture and appliances
  • Guardian or conservator service fees
  • Help paying for housing costs through MSA Housing Assistance
  • Medically prescribed special diets
  • Representative payee services
Adults who receive MSA are also eligible for help with medical, food, and housing costs through Medical Assistance - MA, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - SNAP, and MSA Housing Assistance programs.

Group Exercise Classes: Members can attend a variety of free fitness classes, including cardio and strength, dance, strength, yoga and pilates, ForeverWell, Kids and Family, and water exercise. Members can receive a free one-on-one 60-minute assessment session with a certified personal trainer. Elder Care: Provides specific programs and services to support older adults age 55 and older, including in-person activities and free classes.
  • ForeverWell: Provides members with wellness activities for older adults age 55 and older including virtually online or in-person options. Must be a member for the virtual online activities. Also provides wellness checks for senior ForeverWell members. The George Wellbeing programs offer guidance, virtually or one-on-one in a group setting, with a board-certified coach, to help participants navigate healthy choices.
Adult Sports Leagues: Provides team, doubles, and individuals sport activities. Opportunities for members and non-members. Kids Sports: Provides year-round activities and program for kids of all ages and skill levels, including youth sports leagues and classes, summer sports, Homeschool Physical Education, and adult sports leagues. Members and non-members are welcome to participate. Offers youth with disabilities age 8 and up opportunities to participate in the Blazing Stars Special Olympics Team. The Young Athletes program introduces children ages 2 to 7 with and without intellectual disabilities to the world of sports. Condition Specific Programs: Include tailored health and fitness programs for people with health conditions including Parkinson's disease and pre-diabetes. Water Safety Program: Provides reduced cost water safety instruction for kids ages 5 - 14 and swimming lessons for ages 6 months to adult. Offers parent and child, school-age children, preschool children, and teen and adult swimming lessons and water safety instruction. Member and non-member rates available. Provides trainings and certifications for lifeguard training, CPR and first aid, babysitting safety, safety training for coaches and instructor level training. Emergency General Assistance meets the emergency needs of eligible individuals who are in an emergency and who are residents of the state. Funding availability may vary. EGA can offer emergency help with the following:
  • Damage or rental deposits on a case-by-case basis
  • Home repairs that make the house livable or clean up expenses for an apartment or home to make it livable
  • Moving expenses. May provide assistance to older adults or individuals living with a disability with moving fees associated with moving companies that pick up belongings and relocate the resident to a new residence.
  • Other additional food support for people who have special dietary needs
  • Property tax help for past due taxes
  • Transportation to relocate on a case-by-base basis for bus tickets only
  • Utility bills at risk of shut off such as electric, heating, or water bills. Rent must be current and up-to-date in order to receive assistance for utility help.
NOTE: EGA does not help with rent assistance. Households who need rent assistance must apply through the Tenant Resource Connection Rent Help Hennepin application.
