  • Group homes - In-home support services for individuals who live in a home of their own, but still need some assistance. Individuals receive 2 - 6 hours of assistance each week, as determined by the Olmsted County Community Services Department. Some skills include: Budgeting, cleaning, cooking, managing medication, using public transportation, and other skills are provided as needed. - Semi-Independent Living Skills Program (SILS) for individuals who live in their own home, or their family's home. Individuals receive 5 - 10 hours of assistance each week, as determined by the Olmsted County Community Services Department. Some skills include: Budgeting, cleaning, cooking, managing medication, using public transportation, and other skills are provided as needed.

Cash-grant program for adults with low incomes experiencing a household emergency. Adults can receive assistance once every 12 months. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Adults must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help.Emergency Assistance for Home Repairs: The applicant must own or live in the home and document the need for repair and the request must be reasonable Emergency Assistance for Moving Expenses: Moving expenses include costs for transportation of personal property, utility hookups, and deposits. Total shelter costs must not exceed 75% of the applicant's net income. The move must be due to the denial of Emergency Assistance to pay existing shelter costs and the county has determined that moving will resolve the emergency. Emergency Assistance for Shelter: Shelter costs must not exceed 75% of the applicant's net income and an unlawful detainer is required. The county will determine if assistance is available for individuals facing a loss of shelter and for individuals without shelter. Assistance may also include damage deposits. Emergency Assistance for Utility Bills: The applicant must have received a final shut-off notice. Assistance may be available for expenses such as municipal water, sewer, natural gas, electricity, fuel oil, firewood, and trash removal. The utility service must verify it will continue or restore service based on the receipt of Emergency Assistance funds or other payments. Emergency Assistance to Prevent Foreclosure: The applicant may request aid for an arrearage on contract-for-deed or mortgage payments when a foreclosure action occurs. The applicant must own, occupy, and maintain the home. The applicant's household income must be enough to pay housing costs over the next 12 months and can verify that their lender has denied refinancing.

The Itaskin Center & Cottage 35-Day Assessment Program is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). This assessment program serves residents between the ages of 10-17 years old. Upon completion of the 35-Day Assessment Program, a Comprehensive Assessment is provided to the youth's guardian and/or treatment team. The Comprehensive Assessment aims to identify child and familial strengths, resiliencies, and opportunities for growth via a multifaceted approach, while also providing diagnoses, recommendations, and a prognosis for recovery. This multifaceted approach involves a behavioral assessment, comprehensive assessment, wellness/recreation assessment, academic assessment, health screening/physical examination. Additional assessments, as requested by individual teams, include a psychiatric assessment and/or chemical use assessment. Upon completion of the program, the assessment team will also recommend a level of care believed to most accurately represent the current needs of the youth and how best to be supported. Opportunities for individual therapy and improving coping skills are provided throughout the 35-day assessment period.

Failure to meet work rules will result in their MFIP grants being sanctioned or reduced. In addition:- A woman expecting a baby may receive assistance for herself during her pregnancy- Child support will be pursued in those situations where one or both parents are absent- Children who are being cared for by certain relatives may receive assistanceNOTE: MFIP recipients may be eligible for Emergency Assistance, Child Care Assistance, Medical Assistance, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
