- Individuals/families receive a 7-day supply of food including fresh or frozen meat, dairy, produce, non-perishable items, dry goods, and personal care items. Shopping is done in the in-person choice model or via a pre-packaged non-choice selection provided through the Market drive-thru option. Food can be accessed once a month per household. Emergency bags are also available. - Market Express is an express drive-thru food pick-up on specific dates throughout the month. Food package includes 3-4 day supply including meat, dairy, produce, and dry goods (contents may vary). The Salvation Army in Houston has limited funds for food vouchers, hotel vouchers, and transportation needs including bus tickets for stranded travelers and car repair assistance. This service is only available when the organization has funding. Because of the dependence on the organization's available funds there is no guarantee that all requests for assistance can be granted, however, people are encouraged to call when they have an emergency need.

- The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC Program) is a supplemental food and nutrition program for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, and infants and young children who are at nutritional risk - The purpose of the WIC Program is to prevent health problems and to improve the health of program participants during critical times of growth and development - The WIC Program provides nutrition education, access to health services, referrals to health and other social services and vouchers for supplemental foods - The food vouchers list the types and quantities of WIC foods that are consistent with the participant's nutritional needs - The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC Program) is a supplemental food and nutrition program for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, and infants and young children who are at nutritional risk

The Hometown Resource Center may provide emergency assistance with food, clothing and shelter. The center offers a one-time rent payment assistance. In extreme crisis situations and only when funding is available, the center may provide motel vouchers (for short-term stays only). The center may provide gas cards for people needing to get to work or important appointments (on a case by case basis). Gas cards are not available for people with Medicare or Medicaid (because they have other options for transportation). Staff may also provide information and referral to other community resources for people.
