Emergency Shelter Program - Ours To Serve House of Hospitality/Village of Hope Family Shelter

Village of Hope provides safe, secure emergency housing for families 24 hours/day ~ 7 days a week. We are open 365 days a year. The environment that a family experiencing homeless comes into is very important. We work to create a calm, safe environment in which families can build a future. Families can stay with us for 90 days, as long as they are actively looking for housing. Each family has their own apartment. Minneapolis South Social Service Office - Salvation Army Twin Cities Social Services

Emergency food shelf for persons living in area. Clients will be asked to provide name, address, telephone number, the number of adults and the number of children to be served and if there are any infants. Clients should call the day on which food is to be picked up. Clients will need proof of address and identification for all members of the household. Usage is limited to once every 30 days. Senior Food Shelf: Usage is limited to seniors and may be used once a month by appointment only. Free home delivery. Free hot lunch provided Monday - Thursday to community members Hygiene: Shampoo, razors, shaving cream, soap and lotion are given to clients once every two months. The availability of hygiene products will vary. Transportation: Clients can qualify for tokens or a bus card in one of two ways. The caseworker must be able to verify by telephone that the client has a permanent job for which they have not received their first paycheck or have several medical appointments. Energy conservation services including furnace checks and minor repairs, call 612-721-6462. Referrals to LensCrafters for free eye exam and glasses. Limited financial assistance for special needs. Emphasizes skills necessary for independent living with the greatest emphasis on vocational training and job skills. The majority of clients are involved in supported community employment. Job placements include: - Janitorial work - Automobile detailing - Nursing home assistant - Laundry work - Lawn care - Dish washing - Recycling services - Retail crafts - Food service industry The DAC operates the following: - Recycling center - Ink pen and pin back button assembly station - Retail craft industry - Non-vocational programs - Daily hot lunches, meals are prepared according to individual client dietary needs. Program serves meals for clients with chewing problems, choking issues, diabetes, food allergies, and cholesterol concerns. - Medical monitoring and administration services in tandem with health care providers and client residential facilities - Transportation to the Regional Fitness Center for work creating and meeting fitness goals, most clients qualify for free memberships to the center Training in independent living skills and speech therapy are provided when necessary The DAC also provides job training and employment in various sub-contracted jobs
