Cash-grant program for adults with low incomes experiencing a household emergency. Adults can receive assistance once every 12 months. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Adults must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help.
Short-term grant assistance for persons in a financial crisis due to evictions, utility disconnections, or other crisis/emergency situations.
The grant is provided in the form of direct payment to the vendor, for assist with the following expenses:
- Car repair and expenses
- Mortgage
- Moving expense
- Property taxes
- Rent payment
- Rental/utility deposit
- Utilities
Assistance may depend based on availability of funds per season.
NOTE: Client may also be eligible for Emergency Assistance, and/or Emergency Medical Assistance.

- Home repairs that make the house livable or clean up expenses for an apartment or home to make it livable
- Moving expenses
- Other additional food support for people who have special dietary needs
- Mortgage assistance for households who are facing foreclosure
- Property tax help for past due taxes
- Transportation to relocate on a case-by-base basis for bus tickets only
- Utility bills at risk of shut off such as electric, heating, or water bills. Rent must be current and up-to-date in order to receive assistance for utility help.
NOTE: EA does not help with rent assistance. Households who need rent assistance must apply through the Tenant Resource Connection Rent Help Hennepin application.
