Provides an online application to residents who have past due rent in order to help households remain in their current housing situation. Financial assistance may be provided for past due rent and the Family Homelessness Prevention and Assistance Program (FHPAP), the Local Affordable Housing Aid (LAHA), and the Statewide Affordable Housing Aid (SAHA) funding. There is currently a lifetime cap amount to how much a household can apply for assistance. NOTE: Households in Hennepin County who meet income guidelines that need rent assistance should apply through the Rent Help Hennepin website and should not be directed to Emergency Assistance (EA)/Emergency General Assistance (EGA).

Cash-grant program for adults with low incomes experiencing a household emergency. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Adults must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. Provides short-term grant assistance for persons in a financial crisis including nonrecurring shelter and utility needs not exceeding 30 days. Payments of emergency funding are available for: - Housing: Payments for mortgage/contract for deed foreclosures, past due rent (no more than 2 months) and damage deposits (equal to 1 month's rent) - Utilities: Payments for municipal water and sewer services, electric, gas, fuel oil and wood. Deposits are limited to an amount equal to an average month's bill. Does not include late fees, court fees or repairs.

The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. - Emergency Assistance (EA) helps with shelter, such as a security deposit or past due rent/mortgage. EA also helps pay for utilities when there is a threat of disconnection. Utilities include electricity, heat, and water. - Those who qualify for Emergency Assistance can receive up to two months' payment for their share of rent/mortgage and up to $1,800 in utility assistance.

The county Veteran's Service Office assists veterans and their families with obtaining the local, state, and federal benefits that they are entitled to receive. This office also provides emergency financial assistance for housing (rent or mortgage) if requests are approved by the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. Other assistance may be also be available, each request is considered on a case-by-case basis and the type of assistance may vary. The office is also able to get durable medical equipment through the state including wheelchairs, hospital beds, and more. DAV (Disabled American Veterans) transportation provides volunteers to transport eligible veterans to the non-emergency medical appointments in Rochester, Minneapolis, La Crosse, Madison, and Tomah on an as needed basis. The veteran must be ambulatory and if assistance is required a care provider may ride along to assist. Portable oxygen tanks are permitted.

Bi-CAP is one of six partners (five Community Action Agencies, and Evergreen Youth and Family Services) implementing the DHS Service Grant. Service dollars are available to households who are experiencing long-term homelessness my MN State definition. To qualify, participants must have experienced one year of consecutive homelessness or have experienced four episodes of homelessness in three years. This program is available in Cass and Beltrami Counties and is funded by the State Department of Human Services (DHS).
Emergency assistance is available once every twelve months and considered on a case-by-case basis for the following unless otherwise noted: - Clothing vouchers - Food voucher (first come first serve) - Formula and/or diapers vouchers - Gas vouchers are available once every six months on a case-by-case basis - Limited Family Permanent Supportive Housing - Limited rental assistance available (first come first serve) - Prescription expense assistance - Shelter services go through Twin Cities offices - School supplies available seasonally - Vehicle repair

Provides homeless outreach and case management services to adults with serious and persistent mental illness. Offers housing options including crisis beds, rental assistance, and permanent housing. Outreach, case management, and rental assistance are also available to homeless youth under the age of 24. NOTE: Single adults and youth must get a pre-screen through United Way 211 to access this program. The pre-screen information is provided to Saint Louis County Housing Assessment Team (SLCHAT).

Phone service is covered if medically necessary and a physician's statement is required. - Financial assistance is made in the form of payment directly to the provider (landlord or utility company) NOTE: Client may also be eligible for Emergency Medical Assistance.
