Medical Assistance (MA) - Minnesota's Medicaid program - the largest of the state's three health care programs, is a joint federally/state funded program which provides necessary medical services for low-income families, children, pregnant women, and people who are elderly (65 or older) or have disabilities.

Provides managed care programs offering medical, behavioral health and social services including: Prepaid Medical Assistance Program (PMAP): A managed care program that offers medical, behavioral health and social services for residents of Hennepin County, between the ages of 0 and 64 and eligible for Medical Assistance (Medicaid) or MinnesotaCare. MNCare: A managed care program that covers health care for people who do not have access to affordable health care coverage and offers medical, behavioral health and social services for residents of Hennepin County, between the ages of 0 and 64 and eligible for Medical Assistance (Medicaid) or MinnesotaCare. Special Needs Basic Care (SNBC): A managed care program for individuals with disabilities who are residents of Hennepin County, between the ages of 18 and 64, eligible for Medical Assistance (Medicaid) and certified disabled (by a State Medical Review Team or through Social Security Disability Insurance).

This is a Medicaid program for beneficiaries who need help in paying for Medicare Part B premiums. For those who qualify, the Medicaid program pays full Medicare Part B premiums only. Eligibility begins the month of application and, if eligible, retroactively for up to 3 months. Note: There can be a lag time before SSA is able to stop taking the premiums out of the recipient's benefit check but the recipient will be reimbursed by SSA for all months eligible for SLMB and/or QMB or QI. The reverse is true when these programs terminate: recipients should be told to put aside premium costs from first month of termination on.

Secure website that allows users to apply for state and county services, such as: - Cash programs: Helps individuals and families meet their basic needs until they are able to support themselves. Individuals will get an EBT card that they can use like a debit card. The most common cash programs: - Diversionary Work Program (DWP) - General Assistance (GA) - MN Family Investment Program (MFIP) - MN Supplemental Aid (MSA) - Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) - Child Care Assistance: Helps families pay for day child care so that parents can pursue employment or education. It is for children age 12 and younger. - Emergency Assistance: Helps with shelter payments, such as past-due rent, to stop evictions or foreclosure. It can also be used for utilities when there is a threat of disconnection. - Food assistance (SNAP): Assist with food. Individuals get an EBT card that they can use like a debit card to buy groceries at most stores and farmer's markets. - Housing Support (GRH): Housing Support program used to be called Group Residential Housing (GRH). Helps seniors and adults age 65 or older and/or adults with disabilities who have low-income pay for housing costs and things people need to stay housed in certain group settings or in the community. It helps prevent people from living in institutions or becoming homeless.

Medical Assistance for Employed Persons with Disabilities promotes competent employment and the economic self-sufficiency of people with disabilities by assuring continued access to Medical Assistance for necessary health care services. MA-EPD allows working people with disabilities to qualify for MA under higher income and asset limits than regular MA. The goal of the program is to encourage people with disabilities to work and enjoy the benefits of being employed. MA-EPD pays for the same services as regular Medical Assistance, including: - Home care services - Inpatient hospital services - Medical equipment services - Mental health services - Personal assistance services - Physical, occupational and speech therapy - Physician and health clinic visits - Prescription drugs

MinnesotaCare is a health care program that is administered by the Department of Human Services and some counties. MinnesotaCare is available for people who do not have health insurance and meet income and household size guidelines. A monthly premium is generally required.
