Emergency Management Services - Lake County Emergency Management
Assists the community by preparing for, responding to, and recovering from natural and man-made disasters. Services include coordination with agencies to deliver critical support, such as emergency response and hazard mitigation, ensuring recovery and resilience, planning, public education, and training.
Services for the community:
- Community Emergency Response Training (CERT): 20 hour class to help prepare for emergencies and disasters in the home or community. Practice first aid and triage, using fire extinguishers, and basic search and rescue in a casual atmosphere. Build your own evacuation and shelter kits.
- Firewise: Resource to for homeowners to reduce the risk of a fire damage to their home by taking some simple preventive actions. Homeowners can become a recognized Firewise USA site.
- Volunteer Opportunities:

- Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services / Amateur Radio Emergency Services (RACES/ARES) serves as a back-up for public safety communications during emergencies and disasters, when traditional methods of communication are overwhelmed or fail
- Emergency Services Chaplains provide emotional and spiritual support to all emergency responders and their families, as well as victims of crime or crisis served by our responders
