Minnesota's Medicaid program for people with low income. Most people who have MA receive health care through health plans. Members who do not receive health care through a health plan receive care on a fee-for-service basis, with providers billing the state directly for services they provide. MA pays for a variety of services like doctor visits, prescriptions, and hospital stays. Some services and prescriptions may require prior approval. MA pays for medical bills going back three months from the month the application is received. Benton Stearns Education Center offers a variety of educational programming for students with disabilities. The program currently serves the educational needs of students in grades K-12 and students from 18 - 21 years in age. The focus is on helping students develop tools that will increase their ability to have success in school, both academically and behaviorally.

Provides representative payee services for individuals who receive government benefits and are unable to manage their finances.

Provides state-funded food assistance to legal noncitizens ages 50 or older who do not qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition Program (SNAP, formerly called Food Stamps or Food Support) because of their citizenship status. Monthly benefits are loaded on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which looks and works like a debit card. A planned program of care for the treatment of chemical dependency or chemical abuse to minimize or prevent further chemical abuse. Each county and Indian reservation is responsible for: - Assessment and placement of recipients who need chemical dependency treatment services; - Establishing contracts with facilities and programs to provide chemical dependency services; and - Certification of claim forms prior to billing DHS.

Transportation to Minneapolis VA Medical Center or Mankato VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic. Veterans vans travel on even days only with pick up and drop off points, and are not wheelchair accessible. The van cannot transport anyone with a serious or acute medical condition or those requiring continuous use of an oxygen tank.

• Bus and vans are accessible, but volunteer drivers' vehicles are not

• Daily city service is offered 7 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, in the following cities; Appleton, Benson, Canby, Dawson, Madison, Montevideo, and Ortonville

Direct Access allows an individual to go directly to a provider they choose to receive a comprehensive assessment and access care immediately. The county will assess individuals who need help paying for a chemical use assessment or treatment services through the Behavioral Health Fund. Services also include:

• Designated staff that provide chemical dependency assessments

• Referral to local community service providers for chemical assessments or treatment services. Also, directs individuals to visit www.fasttrackermn.org for additional resources.

• When legal intervention is required, staff can assist with mental health and chemical dependency commitments

Provides financial assistance to help with expenses for the cremation of a decedent's remains, burial or interment, or funeral service

Provides a broad range of counseling, referral, and other services to help veterans, service members, and their families in a non-medical setting.

Operates two free food markets available to shoppers twice per month that provide a supply of food that changes depending on donations (quantities are based on household size). Each market usually includes fresh produce, bread, refrigerator and dairy items, canned and boxed foods, cultural-specific items (Hmong, Latino, East African), frozen meat, and staple items. Emergency bags are available on a walk-in basis once per month and include pre-packed grocery bag of dry/canned goods, one meat option, and one bag of cold items (milk, eggs, produce, etc.)
