These benefits require participating adults to agree and to follow a case plan designed to move them away from assistance and to self-reliance. Cash assistance has a 60-month lifetime limit.

Emergency Assistance is a one-time per fiscal year payment for participants receiving cash assistance and experiencing an extreme financial hardship, typically an eviction or utility shutoff. Future cash assistance payments will be made to the landlord or utility.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a State of Minnesota program that the Aanjibimaadizing administers for our cash assistance families. This program provided cash assistance specifically for food purchases.
Childcare assistance
Child care assistance helps parents or guardians pay for child care. Aanjibimaadizing can pay child care centers, family child care providers, or family, friends or neighbors (FFN) that provide child care. Child care assistance is not available in the Urban area at this time.

- Moving expenses. May provide assistance to older adults or individuals living with a disability with moving fees associated with moving companies that pick up belongings and relocate the resident to a new residence.
- Other additional food support for people who have special dietary needs
- Mortgage assistance for households who are facing foreclosure
- Property tax help for past due taxes
- Transportation to relocate on a case-by-base basis for bus tickets only
- Utility bills at risk of shut off such as electric, heating, or water bills. Rent must be current and up-to-date in order to receive assistance for utility help.
NOTE: EGA does not help with rent assistance. Households who need rent assistance must apply through the Tenant Resource Connection Rent Help Hennepin application.

Short-term grant assistance for families in a financial crisis because of:
- In situations of threat of eviction from a landlord/management or homelessness as a result of domestic abuse, rent and/or rental deposit assistance is provided. Mortgage payment assistance is not considered unless the family is in foreclosure or experiencing difficulty from an employment crisis.
- In situations of utility (electricity, fuel oil, natural gas, propane, sewer, or water) shut-off and refusal of service for fuel, deposit and payment assistance is provided
- Financial aid is provided directly to the vendor

Limited funding available to provide a one-time payment for eligible households for either emergency rental assistance to help households get caught up on late rent or security deposit and/or first month rent assistance. Assistance can be accessed once every 24 months.
Emergency rental assistance may only be utilized once in a 24-month period.
Cannot assist households who receive subsidies such as through Minneapolis Public Housing Authority, Section 8, among others.
Due to the high volume of emergency rental assistance applications received, application processing may take 60 days or more.
